Posted at 17/4/2024 17:28 by chucko1 What applies for dividends applies for capital in that the ex date must be one day prior to the Record Date - so that if you own them on the trading day prior to the ex-date (i.e. yesterday), then you will be on the Register.So if you bought on 16th April, then you will be on the Register on the 18th, and therefore entitled to the payment. Today is the ex-date, in that by buying today, you are NOT entitled to the payment. It is just like any other ex-div or ex-cap situation, with the difference in this case of it going ex-cap on a Wednesday. Well, that's VSL for you. |

B Shares of 1 penny each will be issued to all Shareholders on 19 April 2024 by way of a bonus issue at a ratio of 4.26159039 new B shares for each Ordinary Share held at the Record Date of 6:00 p.m. on 18 April 2024. "So presumably if I were to sell all my VSL shares tomorrow before 6:00pm, I would not be issued with any B shares. Is that correct? This return is not a dividend so the usual ex-divi date being a day before the record date does not apply. |
Posted at 17/4/2024 17:11 by chucko1 @Specto, there are likely to be more ROCs in reasonably short order, now that the leverage is much smaller. Also likely to get 4-6p more dividends this year, although a part of that is likely to be taken from capital, so might as well just look at total return from here on in.@Ctrader3, early days - and as the NAV shrinks, there may be significant opportunities to do well out of this if previous assumptions about asset quality hold good - i.e. that credit losses remain below 5% and most of the investment capital losses are taken. The problem is you are always having to rely open VSL reports and updates which tend to confuse in the first instance. The ROC RNS being a case in point as well as the December Portfolio Update. |
Posted at 17/4/2024 16:37 by chucko1 So yes, 4.26 B shares per Ordinary share.I think the reason for doing it this way is that because the amount returned is a fixed USD amount and the shares are GBP denominated, you have to wait util the FX is set to know what B share distribution you are going to get. In the case of SLFR/X, it was a fixed 1p or 3p or whatever, so they could issue a new share on each occasion with that as the nominal value quite simply. Of course, had VSL said that they would be returning 4pps in the first place, then none of this confusion would have arisen. A sign of future chaos (to a degree), I sense. I think VSL are making this up as they go along. |

Posted at 17/3/2024 12:12 by 2wild 3 loans totaling"38 million, 1 with an early redemption fee, were repaid in December. Including the 3 small loans repaid early January, could easily see another 20 to £40 million repaid by early April. Plus a spate of All Time Highs on US equitie indexes during February and early March, could see equities sold or taken out by takeover soon.Of course matters may take a bit longer. Given 15% Dividend yield and 36% discount to NAB, hardly an issue. |
Posted at 08/2/2024 11:55 by redhill9 Brucie5,VSL was plodding along paying a 2p per quarter dividend until one or two large shareholders became active in seeking to force a closing of the discount by distribution of the NAV. After a good deal of too-ing and fro-ing a liquidation was approved although (I think) many shareholders had mixed views on this and would have been happy for the status quo and the regular dividend payments to continue into the future. |
