It's having a look at the 500p hurdle but hasn't made up its mind yet!

Bizarre - went XD for 9p today and has actually risen today on a down day.
A quality company and still cheap, and looking a good play on recovery of the housing market.
As this board shows few have recognised this jewel.

The consensus of new estimates on TDW now anticipates rather disappointing progress: 33.8p in 2014 and 35.79p in 2015. Can that be right, I wonder? It might help to explain why the share price has not moved much since results.

I like this bit:

Significant progress was made in certain areas of the Middle East
including Kurdistan, where a number of high value rentals were obtained
for well test projects. The outlook remains bright in this region.

- a lot of oil exploration and development money will be pumped into Kurdistan
in the coming years.

Agreed. One of my larger and longest holdings. Extremely competent management.

By comparison, Speedy Hire SDY is currently (57p) on a forward p/e ratio of about 17 and a dividend yield of about 1%.

It's clear to me where the better value is.

There will definitely be upgrades and the shares are too cheap.

Excellent results in the current UK climate.

We remain positive in our expectations for the new financial year.

Forward p/e ratio of around 10? Dividend yield of 3.4%.

When UK construction picks up, eps should step up even more.

Happy holder.

Someone's offloading.

Heading back to 300p? Or lower?

See what next week brings.

For anyone who wants to see the slides presented by VP mgt at the Equity Development investor forum last week, they've been published online (may require free registration with ED);

Worth having a look.

Regards, Paul.

I've owned this company 3/4 times since 2004. Management has always looked on top of the game, and they have delivered good results, while making very good acquisitions that actually benefit shareholders (unlike with most managements).

I do not hold currently as I sold out in July after good gains due to concerns over the overall economy and the impact on some parts of VP business. But long term I am still a fan; dividends seem to be continuous in all market conditions. I expect I shall buy back in at some point...

I haven't got time to do a detailed write-up, but the CEO of VP gave an excellent presentation to the Equity Development investor meeting yesterday, he was really impressive. I't obvious that management have an excellent strategy of targeting niche markets with decent margins, have proved resilient in the downturn, that the bank position is safe & sound, and they're focused on shareholder value.

All in all, a really nice company to just own shares in, that you can tuck away & forget for 10 years+, safe in the knowledge that they are likely to give you a steady stream of rising divis, plus long term capital gains.

Very nice company.

Cheers, Paul. (I don't own shares in it, but have always viewed it favourably. Not quite high enough octane for me though!)

Thank you for those kind words, V11! Quite correct of course, having said that I nearly bought a few weeks back at around 340ish..... Anyway, I'm in now so there we are!

Just joined the club with the purchase of 1000 shares at 325.25 ( though shown as a sell). Let's see if I invested wisely!

Hi,

For anyone interested in meeting VP's management, they are appearing at a free evening event on 17 Jan, being organised by Equity Development.

I'm going along, as all 3 companies presenting are interesting (the other 2 are Tracsis & Regenersis, both interesting small caps).

Details here, there are a few places left, I'm told (about 10 spare seats);

Cheers, Paul.

OK, OK, I sold too early. Though I am doing as well elsewhere.

This company doesn't seem to know the meanig of the word "downturn"!
