I was expecting this strategic review to take a maximum of 2-3 hours. But we've heard nothing for 2-3 months now.

Hydrogen refuelling feasible 'within months'
28 Mar 08

ITM Power Plc, a fuel cell and electrolyser development company, and design/engineering group Roush Technologies Ltd have signed a co-operative agreement that 'could see carbon dioxide-free commercial vehicles being marketed in Britain within months.'

The two companies are to team up on a project to put hydrogen-powered vehicles on Britain's roads.

Roush is to work on solutions to convert existing internal-combustion petrol engines to run on hydrogen and on the development of all-new bespoke hydrogen-fuelled engines. The only by-product of burning hydrogen in an engine is water vapour.

ITM Power is developing hydrogen refuelling stations and a system whereby operators can generate their own hydrogen on-site by the electrolysis of water. An electrolyser system is to go into production in Sheffield later this year that can produce hydrogen from water using either off-peak or renewable-source electricity generated by wind, wave or solar power.

Although engines using hydrogen are already in production - BMW has made a small number of hydrogen-fuelled 7-Series saloons - and fuel cell cars (with on-board electrolysis to convert hydrogen fuel into electrical energy) are near to commercial reality, both solutions need a supply infrastructure for hydrogen.

ITM's CEO Jim Heathcote said: 'We are committed to bringing practical hydrogen power into the automotive market place within a dramatically reduced timeframe. Whilst [the project] initially involves the commercial vehicle sector, it will demonstrate the wider potential of hydrogen technology to help cut CO2 emissions and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels.'

"Consumers will not pay a premium to be environmentally friendly, nor will they accept a performance premium to be environmentally friendly."

They'll pay a premium for a share that was introduced at a hugely inflated price however.

H P ... I'm amazed this company gets the attention it does (typical of BBs, I suppose) when its model and execution are the weakest of the 11 UK-listed fuel cell companies.
Maybe the presence of one or two high profile investors attracts others? (I know what attracted you, though!!)

cheers jonwig. I cant see voller raising more cash so perhaps likeliest outcome an all share takeover from the likes of PTX.
That would put an end to the gravy train. The management were paid over 500 grand last year.

Does anyone think any of the other fuel cell companies will see value in Voller's IP?

No.

Most developers of complete systems have their own patented and integrated reforming technology.
Perhaps the nearest (US-based but UK-listed) are Idatech [IDA] and Protonex Tech [PTX] both of which are developing PEM cells and have their own internal reformers.
IDA might actually be looking at yachts, though its chief area of expertise is in providing back-up power for remote telecoms sites ... it already has commercial orders, but will need cash soon.
A long shot to buy VLR for its cash, maybe?

PTX is engaged with the US military, including unmanned aircraft, and won't need cash anytime soon.

Both of these are (DYOR) companies of substance.

Cash burn isnt quite as bad as the H1 results show because there will be a tax credit due of about 250 grand at year end. Factoring that in they should have net cash of over 12p just now. I dont know how much the intellectual property is worth. They have the hydrogen reforming technology and a working product which they have received orders for.

Does anyone think any of the other fuel cell companies will see value in Voller's IP? Or even if its just the cash they may think issuing their shares to buy Voller may be a cheaper way of raising funds than going to the market.

just market drift. up today on £2000 of sales - meaningless.
these idiots have paid themselves at punters expense and will drain any remaining cash . they should wrap it up now and give remaining cash back to shareholders

In my opinion Voller should resign at once and the remaining money given back to the shareholdes.

I aslo believe that the recent hand out by the tax payer (me) should be paid back.
