Vodafone Group PLC said Monday that it intends to transfer its 50% shareholding in its U.K. telecommunications-tower joint venture with Telefonica SA to Vantage Towers. Vodafone and Telefonica have each entered into long-term master-services agreements with the joint venture company, Cornerstone Telecommunications Infrastructure Ltd. The agreements have initial terms of eight years with three eight-year renewal periods, and establish Cornerstone as a preferred supplier of new sites for both operators, Vodafone said. Vodafone said it plans to transfer its stake in Cornerstone to Vantage Towers, a new company it set up last year to house its European tower portfolio. This will extend Vantage Towers' portfolio to around 82,000 sites across 10 European markets, Vodafone said. With the sale of the towers those debts will now be manageable and the business can now grow. I do hope that we do not get a share buyback and waste the cash hope it will used to reduce borrowing.

Berenberg's analyst Carl Murdock-Smith increases his rating from Neutral to Buy. Previously set at GBX 148, the target price has been raised to GBX 155 In a research note published by Maurice Patrick, Barclays advises its customers to buy the stock. The target price remains set at GBX 170.

This from IG. The current market cap of VOD is around €35bn. "It is not yet known what the value of Vantage Towers will be when it lists, as its parent company, Vodafone, has not yet given a range for the listing. It has only stated that it expects the company to debut on the stock market with a value of less than €10 billion. However, some analysts expect the company to be worth significantly more, with estimates of up to €21 billion suggested based on the market caps of other European tower companies. Its final valuation will depend on the number of tower assets Vodafone decides to spin-off as part of the newly-listed company."

I was reading the vantage tower ipo documents and they were planning to sell it 27x or 28x earning. I take it there isn't any provisions to give existing Vodafone shareholders a chance to part take in this ipo before it goes public?
