Vodafone 5G takes flight at Gatwick Airport: robo parking and auto-check-in incoming Adam Speight Contact via Twitter | September 12, 2019 11:42 am BST Vodafone 5G has been expanded to the south terminal at Gatwick Airport, letting passengers experience super-fast speeds ahead of their flights. The new 5G expansion will cover the North Terminal as well by early 2020. The coverage is available in departure lounges, arrivals, shops and restaurants. Vodafone believes 5G is ideal for giving significant numbers of people access to fast speeds in high-density areas. Gatwick Airport is a great use-case for this as the terminals have 24,000 employees and serve over 46 million passengers a year. Along with giving passengers who are Vodafone customers access to super-fast 5G, Vodafone’s 5G network will support the upcoming trial of robotic parking as well as automated check-in and boarding procedures at Gatwick Airport. Vodafone Chief Technology Officer Scott Petty gave another instance of the potential applications for the 5G network at Gatwick Airport: “The installation of hundreds of kilometres of fibre at the airport will enable us to offer great coverage to the millions of people who use Gatwick Airport each year, as well as to connect its systems and vehicles on site. For example, by connecting mobility carts, airport staff will know where they are at all times, meaning they are better able to help passengers who need support.” spud

A nice little rise today. In fact a steady rise this week so far. 160 or a little above would top the week of nicely.

Vodafone and Kaltura extend partnership SEPTEMBER 11, 2019 09.10 EUROPE/LONDON BY CHRIS DZIADUL Kaltura Cloud TV technology is now supporting the launch of Vodafone TV in Greece, Romania and Turkey. It has already been deployed in Spain and Italy, and the process takes as little as seven months in a new country. Commenting on the development, Ron Yekutiel, Kaltura co-founder, chairman and CEO, Kaltura, said: “What an honour it is to continue our long-standing partnership with Vodafone, and to see how Vodafone TV is now scaling to support all the TV requirements of new markets around the world. “Our shared vision with Vodafone for aggregating all the linear, VOD and OTT content consumers want into a unified and personalised TV experience across all screens is coming to life.” Wolfgang Zeller, head of video centre of excellence at Vodafone, added: “Vodafone TV is proving that by combining the reliability, security and scalability of pay-TV together with the agility, economics and functionality of OTT, telcos can launch competitive Cloud TV services at scale. We wanted to be first out of the blocks with a new genre of cloud-based TV service that could be easily and cost-effectively replicated and launched in new Vodafone markets. “With Kaltura we were able to launch a next generation Cloud TV solution that was fast to market, more cost effective and most importantly increased our subscribers’ NPS. We are continuously impressed by how Kaltura’s technology, expertise and Cloud TV track record accelerate our joint vision for the future of TV.” spud

Vodafone continues 5G expansion across Europe: here are the new places you can get it Adam Speight Contact via Twitter | September 10, 2019 12:56 pm BST Vodafone 5G UK launch Juan De Jongh Vodafone has switched on 5G in seven new locations – meaning Vodafone has a total of 62 towns and cities supported 5G across Europe. The new locations with Vodafone 5G connectivity include Berlin, Bremen, Dresden, Darmstadt, Leipzig, Duisburg and Frankfurt. The continued 5G European expansion by Vodafone makes it the UK network with the most 5G locations on offer to its customers. Along with the new locations in Germany, Vodafone UK customers can already access 5G roaming in locations in Spain and Italy. Along with 5G roaming, Vodafone offers 4G roaming in 156 locations – also more than all other UK networks. Customers get access to both on Vodafone plans, with no extra cost for 5G. Vodafone’s 5G rollout expanded into homes back in August. Vodafone has also announced a new combined 5G mobile and broadband deal. The plan, called Vodafone Together, lets customers pay one monthly fee for 5G data to their phone and their home. spud
