Yes, dividend will be cut and so it should be at this yield. Yield funds moving out, thus negative share price, but this is all factored in at this bargain price, but this doesn't mean it won't go lower in short term. Market cap of £38bln, what a tempting takeover target this has become. Bonkers

Careful has hit the nail on the head. It has made nothing since 2014. I just don't understand how any company can keep going for six plus years and make nothing. I dislike Vod continuing to concentrate on adjusted profit figures without interest, depreciation and amortization too.

"cash flow, a poor mans profit" You do realize that dividends are paid out of FCF (which more than cover both interest repayments and dividends) not profit right? Profit is vanity, cash is reality.

tpb I agree been saying this for a while every time I look at mobile deals they get cheaper can not be much profit in these 10 quid sim only deals.Everyone wants a slice of the market and suspect many use mobile as a loss leader to sell other services. Hopefully at least a period of stability ahead.

Is this a profitless business going forward? Paying out an uncovered dividend by increasing debt makes it a Ponzi scheme. Why talk about the dividend, you are being given your own money. Some stranger goes to the cash machine, takes money out of your account, then hands into you. this seems to please simple minded people. So much talk about cash flow, a poor mans profit. I have a significant holding here, down about 40% in 12 months. So many shares are down 40% or more from their recent peaks. Amazed that the FTSE100 is not even lower.

tim it could be seen VOD been under pressure for a while.....from competition (just look round not easy to resist need to step up their game?! least they got a few squid.....£1.36 to hold the good ole days r gone>>>>> chart has suggested a decision likely come whether this reclaims its high or long term resume the downtrend from a higher point?! depends how smart the VOD management are......

Https://investomania.co.uk/2019/01/does-the-vodafone-group-plc-share-price-have-investment-appeal-after-todays-trading-update/ Does the Vodafone Group plc share price have investment appeal after today’s trading update? Can Vodafone Group plc (LON:VOD) (VOD.L) deliver improving share price performance? January 25, 2019 Robert Stephens Vodafone (LON:VOD) Vodafone share price Vodafone share price The Vodafone Group plc (LON:VOD) (VOD.L) share price is down 1% today after the company released a trading update for the quarter ended 31 December 2018. In my view, the company continues to make progress with the delivery of its strategy. It is moving towards a simpler operating model, while investing heavily in digital opportunities. Partnering is likely to become an area of increased interest for the business in future, as it aims to reduce costs and improve asset utilisation. During the quarter, the company’s revenue declined by €0.8 billion to €11 billion, while third quarter organic service revenue grew by 0.1%. The company’s performance in Europe was similar to the second quarter, with service revenues decreasing by 1.1%. There was, however, improving customer and financial trends in Italy, as well as robust retail growth in Germany. The company also experienced reduced churn in Spain, as well as a consistent performance in the UK. Vodafone’s Rest of World segment grew by 4.9%, with a decline in South Africa as a result of a weak economy being offset by strong performance in other markets. Mobile contract churn was reduced by 2 percentage points. As part of its increased focus on partnerships, the company intends to extend its existing UK network sharing agreement with Telefonica O2 to include 5G services. With Vodafone on track to meet guidance for the full year, I think its performance in the third quarter was relatively positive. Sure, there is a long way to go with the implementation of its refreshed strategy. But I think it could create a stronger and more efficient business which is better able to generate improving financial performance. Trading on a dividend yield of 8.8%, I think the stock offers a margin of safety. Therefore, I believe it has recovery potential over a long-term time period.

At 9% yield I'd be happy if the share price stayed at 140p for the next 20 years.

If I am being honest other than the dividend see very little reason to hold these now. Competition in most markets worldwide is fierce and shows little sign of abating. Although bad news is well in the price now the issue I have is I can not see what will drive them higher, its one thing looking cheap but in my experience you really need a stream of good news to get a sustainable rally going and I cant see that happening anytime soon. We have gone from a rising dividend to a sustained dividend with little assurance that they will be able to maintain it, surely if they were confident about it they would have reassured the market today? Will probably continue to hold but not confident. Good luck all.
