Fanny - I reckon that chart sums up my view pretty well (though I will confess I hadn't considered gaps to fill). Decline with what some will view as disappointing figures for Jan & Feb in comparison to what has gone before, then in April we get some nice figures for March. Does that mean we have to go and fill that nasty blue gap then ?

(assumes no other news of course)

I concur with RP19.

The jump on New Years Eve did us no favours.

Gaps may or may not get filled, but while they exist there will always be weakness and uncertainty.

If the RED gap gets filled, then that would be the time to consider averaging down. Til then, tuck it away and forget about it. However if you cant stomach the possibility of a 25% drop from here, review your strategy accordingly.

NB. The Blue gap is actually 2 gaps.

I'm quite a bit down from my initial price too but more likely to average down than bail out. Seems to be approaching its trend line (I'd draw it if I knew how!) and would hope for a bounce but if not, can see it going back down to just above 1.5p level and I'd certainly be looking to add down there.

My Stop is just about to move into the sights, still a bit to play with yet but must be honest I did not expect to be down here, if you get me...:-//

Saucy/huttgl,

Some good posts from you both which express exactly how i think and feel about VMT. I thought too the USA news was interesting and something i hadnt seen mentioned before.

The point about the Chinese New Year is a valid one and off course sales are going to slower through these months.

And of course there is always something from 'left field' as Saucy says...

The only worry is the Chinese economy itself and whether it can hold up and not implode as some commentators have stated.

Sauce - for sure, always the chance of news that we can't accurately anticipate the timing of. Some of the leads they were so enthusiastic about last year may well bear fruit.

I was interested to see they delivered 75 '120' models to KLD in the States - I don't recall them being mentioned before. Also that KLD are going to install their own (well Samsungs) batteries. The majority of VMT models are fitted with silicon lead acid batteries, there are more performant types of battery out there but they come at a price and price is the key factor in China. Perhaps Vmotos offerings would be more attractive in Europe and N. America if they had a faster charging time and a greater range. Partnering with a new type battery provider would be excellent news.

Ilika (for example and cos' I have an interest in 'em) seem to have produced the means to stack solid-state batteries which allows the manufacture of batteries that are smaller, lighter, pack more charge and re-charge in minutes. Others claim similar for other new battery technology. For most of these this technology isn't marketable yet, at least not for the automotive industry, but it's only a matter of time before one or more of these new techs becomes practical, affordable and commonplace. A lightweight scooter that you can charge in minutes and has a range of 200Km+ between charges would be great. Why go for a petrol one ?

Still, baby steps at the mo'. Let's make a 5M AUD profit in 2014 first and takeover the world later.

huttgl: well expressed. I agree with your thoughts. Hopefully, patience will be rewarded as the year progresses. I think the chances must also be good of announcements coming from 'left field': the electric vehicle trial results, and initiatives, contracts, etc., in other territories.

I was dithering about this today Cheshire, but really I have enough for the moment. I do think that sales figures for Jan and Feb will be down from peak in November (VMT have said these are 'slow' months and CNY takes out 2 - 3 weeks in itself)so this is expected (by me anyway). If this causes some re-trace then I will be very tempted to buy more in anticipation of an update in April re. March sales figures. March should be good as it will be the first month without the New Year effect and with more retail stores in operation than ever before. We should also see what dent we have made in the PowerEagle order for 2014.

Pleased to see maiden profit in the range they quoted many months ago, so good indication that they understand their business and markets. Hopefully they will have as accurate foresight this year and can give us 6 months notice of their 2014 profit expectations.

Not many posts commenting on todays update i see due to lovely quiet bb. Lets keep it that way! ;-)

Not a lot of new stuff in this months update, just reiterating what they have recently achieved. Great to see they have turned a maiden profit. Forward pe in the single digits like you say PJ1.

Im a very happy holder here and will sit back and let developments happen in their own pace. This story has a v long way to run imo.

More like 'preliminary results'... There is a very detailed set of accounts for 2013 showing that they have indeed made a tiny maiden profit. I make it 1.6% of turnover (about 0.0216p in EPS if I've done the currency conversion correctly) and I can see great scope for them to improve on that in the current year.

Operations review....I assume a posh pre-close trading statement?

Very long winded and repetition, some unusual wording, but nothing I can see to jeopardise the 5.6 frwd P/E. Reasonably positive outlook and Manufacturing at only 20% of capacity.

All down to the Sales Team then.......

Bought another batch this morning. Building a nice holding now. :-)

Agree that sales will come from overseas in the near future more than China but what i find tremendously exciting is the roll-out of shops.

Worth remembering that the first shop was only opened in June last year and since then a further nine more has been opened making ten in total to date.

Sales have gone from Zero in June '13 to 1,900 now which is some feat imo. I suspect this roll-out of stores will continue at a pace and probably excellerate going forward meaning sales from this area of business are likely to go exponential given a bit more time.

Totally agree Saucepan - they only make a small margin from the major Chinese contract - and only perhaps a slightly more from their direct sales in China. But China is about stack em high sell them cheap! - but is already enough to cover all overheads and make small profit.

The real profits will come from the RoW sales initially perhaps SE Asia but gradually further afield where margins will be several fold higher.

Happy to hold for a year or two to watch the story unfold!

Whatever, China is big enough for more than one player and this is just another example that the promotion of electric vehicles is and will be a high political priority in view of pollution in cities.

Nice to see VMT ticking up again. Another significant up-leg to look forward to?

And remember, the story is not only about China. VMT already has a 'footprint' in 27 countries if my memory serves me correctly.

Sounds like a remake of the sinclair 5/ tuk tuk - the theory is good but ........with traffic jams that go on for miles in the cities it would only save pollution and not increase speed imo and price doesn't seem to be holding back car ownership. It would surely increase congestion if anything.

huttgl,

"....What i like about VMT is the regular news updates and that they regularly do what they say they are going to do. They have done this again. Why expect more ?....Its a pleasure to be invested in an AIM stock that gives such regular info and delivers what it says it will..."

Absoloutely, well said.

Although the update was full of detail, worth remembering that the last update was only a month ago, so unlikely to be major step forwards in such a short amount of time.

The main thing is, is progress being made and the answer to that question is a resounding 'yes'.

Just having another look at the figures for units sold through stores and it was 1,900 from 10 stores for the quarter Oct-Dec. The last quarter Jul-Sep they sold 1,500 from four stores.

Worth also remembering that the very first flagship store was only opened in June. So one can see the sales from these stores clearly excellerating.

I know this is a Daily Mail article . . .

. . . but it nevertheless underscores that VMT is in the right market with the right product, at the right time.

It refers to growing numbers of vehicles, increasing smog problems, and Chinese Government encouraging electric vehicle use and putting policies in place to ensure that happens, etc.

The following, included in today's VMT announcement, could prove very important:

"Also, as announced on 13 August 2013 the Company delivered two trial electric four-wheel vehicles for the district government in Jianye District, Nanjing for trial. Trials and discussions with the Nanjing Government are ongoing and further developments in relation to these electric four-wheel cleaning vehicles will be reported as and when they occur."
