06/1/2010 12:17 | for newcomers the warrants held by voc in liwa Vision Opportunity China Fund Limited (the 'Company' or 'VOC') today announces that one of its investee companies, Lihua International, Inc. ('Lihua'), has priced its public offering of 2,300,000 shares of its common stock. The shares were offered to the public at US$4.00 per share. Lihua's common stock began trading on the NASDAQ Capital Market under the symbol LIWA on 4 September 2009. VOC initially invested US$7 million in Lihua in 2008 and in turn for its investment received: (a) 3,181,818 shares of Series A Convertible Preferred convertible into 3,181,818 shares of Lihua's Common Stock at a conversion price of $2.20 per share; and (b) 5 year Series A Warrants to purchase up to 700,000 shares of Lihua's Common Stock at an exercise price of $3.50 per share. so they could hold 3,181,818 sh x USD 11.36 (current price of LIWA) = USD 36.14mln= 22.62mln pounds VOC could also purchase another 700000 (value now = 7.95mln USD) so 1 investee company in VOC fund is worth 36.14 + 7.95 = 44.09 mln USD = 27.59 mln pounds last mkt cap (Hemsc.) for voc = $107.22mln | andrbea
06/1/2010 11:41 | good choices p-p am enjoying 'deo' this week bmr, hzm and bao could go north too yes voc is up again liwa rose yesterday, now at 11.36$ (voc holds warrants in liwa) also about LIWA: NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Initial public offerings in 2009 were a tale of two drastically different worlds. LIWA as top riser | andrbea
06/1/2010 09:17 | Hi Andrbea: NRRP is related to KAH of which I've been a holder of years. AAAM is Mano River in past reincarnation. For iron play I bought BC Iron recently and for gold play, I stick to POG, MML and NGL. (AGLD is a huge disappointment.) VOC seems to be motoring again this morning. | ppowerscourt
05/1/2010 15:47 | liwa up 6.2% makes me wonder... when are they going to exercise their warrants in liwa? (worth a lot more now than what they paid for them). nia dyor | andrbea
05/1/2010 10:55 | p-p did some buys this week dde, nrrp and bhr also tracking aul and aaam but waiting for lower entry points nia dyor | andrbea
04/1/2010 15:01 | U2 p-p liwa (one of voc's investee companies) up 6.99% at open article out mentioning LIWA Some of the highest returns of 2009 came from small Chinese industrial firms that were priced dirt- cheap. Wire maker Lihua International (LIWA) priced at 4 in September and climbed above 12 by December. Water utility Tri-tech Holding (TRIT) debuted around the same time at 6.80 and soon tripled in price. Some larger, pricier Chinese offerings also scored high returns. Duoyuan Global Water (DGW) was one of the year's star IPOs, pricing at 16 in June and currently trading above 30. Online-game maker Changyou.com (CYOU), which came out near the bottom of the market April 2, followed a similar pattern. "With China, first of all, the economy is growing faster," said Jay Ritter, a finance professor at the University of Florida. "It's a larger country, and a smaller fraction of its companies are publicly traded. There are more opportunities for both government-backed and private-sector companies to go public." China also provided some of the year's top disappointments. Sweet says he heard buzz about the IPOs of Shanda Games (GAME) and Concord Medical (CCM), only to watch them tank when they came out. "Our checks were showing they were hugely oversubscribed, but what I'm finding out now is that those numbers are coming from Asian funds," said Sweet. "I myself would advise my clients (on) the Chinese deals that are forthcoming: Look twice." | andrbea
04/1/2010 09:38 | Wishing you a most prosperous and happy year! Andrbea. | ppowerscourt
30/12/2009 08:03 | update voc's investee company liwa (up 10% yesterday) 29.12 Follow-up: Lihua initiated with an Outperform at Rodman & Renshaw Rodman & Renshaw is positive on Lihua's technology, margins, and growth oriented exposure to the Chinese market. Target $20. :theflyonthewall | andrbea
23/12/2009 14:13 | what I like is that they don't seem to need any cash or re-funding eg the warrants they purchased way back (2008?) in qkls (at nearly half the current SP) and in liwa (about a third of the current SP) are still on the assets side. No intention to sell them as far as I can see. Shrewd and thoughtful management this lot IMO nia dyor | andrbea
21/12/2009 11:43 | Almost all funds analysts give a unanimous opinion that China is destined to do well in 2010. VOC should be one of the outstanding performers. | ppowerscourt
16/12/2009 09:39 | Looking forward to add more VOCs. But its share price never relents to afford this opportunity. | ppowerscourt
11/12/2009 10:51 | Excellent reply and many thanks. That's why VOC is so pleasing and comfortable to hold because the vision of future is always clearly presented. | ppowerscourt
11/12/2009 09:45 | profit-taking can be done too soon, eg gkp (went from pennies to a pound), or ngl (similar slow rise) you have to keep on doing the research and ask yourself can they still increase (sales/turnover/oil production) from these levels if the answer's yes, why sell? if a small cap that has little cash turnover rises inordinately (eg in a day or 2) then it's best to sell 40% at the peak peaks are notoriously difficult to catch though (you have to be glued to the screen) ;-) nia dyor PS: bought some cpx this week | andrbea
11/12/2009 09:30 | Hi, Andrebea: IMV, it's good-going for the BOM. My litter of small caps are taking 20% down. Holiday time coming up and this is the quiet period. I used to be in TRP up to the peak share price and stubbornly didn't sell when the profit was so good and in the end lost out when the bad news with last dry well hit. A, at what sort of percentage do you take profits on your BOM? We all know they are extremely volatile and not unwise to take profits instead of letting them run and run on the up-and-down waves. I was never able to figure this one out and have suffered as a consequence. pp | ppowerscourt
10/12/2009 16:58 | The BOM is range bound, about 10 to 15% below its September high. Some markdowns after news of imminent delistings didn't help, eg meq, icx many AIM small caps come cap in hand in December as last year's money has run out. and usually they whack thru' a massive dilution for existing shareholders that's why a BOM makes sense to cushion the blow on the back of the other shares some shares began to rise today eg rrl (don't hold). pyc and pinn also rallied ... but a lot of ground still to make up (compared to September 2009 highs) nia dyor | andrbea
09/12/2009 09:36 | UKR taking a 30% downturn due to Trading Update. | ppowerscourt
09/12/2009 07:47 | Market is not booming exactly during this last solar month. Nothing to worry for VOC though for the place it's occupying. How's the overall performance of your BOM (Basket of Many)? It'll be interesting to know that the BOM should be faring well above any fund's portfolio. | ppowerscourt
04/12/2009 10:32 | Glad to have this as private thread. I'm foremostly interested in observing a player's overall strategy. Your basket of multifarious goodies gathering and ripening. While I of lesser means am just beginning to built a small mix-bag of similar microcaps and am willing to wait them out or shift them in the year of the Ox and beyond.. Anyway, a new way of seeing and doing. and no rush. | ppowerscourt
03/12/2009 16:56 | ...forayed into BRNS and ACPM. 2.5 lunar moons to elapse and the year changes to one of Tiger camping upon the mobility-enhanced quadrant denotong movements as norm. We have had a very good Ox year, so far. Cheers, pp | ppowerscourt |
