31/8/2011 15:16 | The Vietnam Index appears to have recovered to virtually unchanged in August. So the fund, assuming a similsr performance, should be worth about $2.31/share. | dickbush
15/8/2011 13:00 | Looks like the current discount to NAV is circa 37%, assuming that the fund has performed in line with the market since end-July. | dickbush
14/4/2011 09:19 | Decent RNS. Quite an increase given the current climate in the country | roman2325
03/3/2011 11:10 | Bought some more | roman2325
14/2/2011 11:51 | Something to do with change-over in software at the LSE - erroneous pricing in several stocks | roman2325
14/2/2011 08:42 | SP same price in the selftrade portfolio. Must be ADVFN having a bit of fun. muted lol. A pain that this is quoted in one currecy by ADVFN and in another elsewhere. | what is a login ?
14/2/2011 08:35 | The share price appears to have halved this morning. I'm off to work now. I'll find out about it later. | what is a login ?
08/2/2011 12:54 | Is anybody planning to dial-in to the investor update? | roman2325
08/2/2011 11:29 | New rally high today but this may be a negative for Far East markets. | dickbush
03/2/2011 19:06 | Got a buy signal on this today, any good reasons why I should be bullish on Vietnam? | jon827
27/1/2011 08:34 | Only just seen yesterdays RNS - great news. Index appears to be holding over 500 - this is still vastly undervalued | roman2325
21/1/2011 12:43 | This has been a great rally for the Index - confident its got a decent bit further to run aswell | roman2325
21/1/2011 08:59 | Index at 519.5 on a pretty poor day for Far East markets. | dickbush
19/1/2011 09:36 | Vietnam Index through 500 today and VOF at a new high for this bull market. | dickbush
18/1/2011 18:42 | Don Lam's stepped up to the plate so I added aswell | roman2325
15/1/2011 15:42 | Hopefully, they won't all be bankers and property developers. | dickbush
16/12/2010 10:11 | Market down 2.7% today. Moodys downgraded Vietnam's bonds on the poor economic situation, inflation, trade deficit etc. Maybe the Vietnamese government will start paying more attention to inflation and less to growth. We(and Vietnam) would be a LOT better off if it did. | dickbush
15/12/2010 08:31 | Not a big fan of ASPL - will continue to trade at a massive discount in my opinion being invested in highly illiquid luxury property in Malaysia and surrounding regions - if I knew more about the property sector I'd investiagte further yet all property in the region is deemed over-valued and if no-one's going to bid for those apartments I don't want to be the investor holding the can.. Vinacapital is easily the best investment manager in the region, VOF is by far the most liquid stock and I want broad exposure to the Vietnamese economy in general. This is a nice long-term hold and the fact they are now allowing holders to redeem at NAV makes it even more attractive to me | roman2325
14/12/2010 15:29 | ASPL is on a 50% discount to NAV and half invested in Vietnam property. | davebowler
14/12/2010 10:45 | Thanks, Roman. Without knowing anything about the property side relative to the equity market, the Fund's NAV is circa $2.52. i.e. 24% discount. | dickbush
14/12/2010 07:33 | Just seen a statement saying resolutions passed at the Vinaland EGM allowing shareholders to redeem holdings at NAV so should see some development here aswell | roman2325
14/12/2010 06:52 | For the record: Assets are held at cost until they receive an "investment license". At that point, and thereafter once a year, each asset is revalued by independent valuation consultants.. Combine this with the uptick in the VN index and we'll see the NAV moving north again | roman2325
13/12/2010 16:31 | I would have hoped cost aswell although none to sure what the reporting requirements are to be honest - I emailed them on Friday yet have been a bit slack about chasing them up - will give them a shout tomorrow morning and see what they say - could be a nice little lift to the NAV | roman2325
13/12/2010 13:11 | Good question, Roman. I'd have thought cost. Why not send VinaCapital an email. A really strong day today, up 3.6%. Bloomberg: Vietnam stocks surged, lifting the benchmark index by the most since January, after commercial lenders pledged to lower interest rates, prompting speculation corporate borrowing costs will drop. Vietnam needs to adopt policies to get inflation down to low single didgits. Then short and long rates can fall to the levels that will allow the stockmarket to sell on a much higher valuation. Current environment of strongly rising agricultural prices and a weak currency are very unhelpful. | dickbush |
