16/5/2016 11:52 | deadly - yes, looks like some analysts were overly pessimistic. As I said in post 11 things are very uncertain right now. But BREXIT will be decided in a few weeks, that's one variable out of the way. (Unless 'they' don't like the result and decide to copy the Irish and try again next year ha ha) | losos
16/5/2016 08:07 | poor results today but price rises. Must be better than expected? | deadly
07/4/2016 11:39 | Taken a bit of a hit today. The oil & gas market is going to take time to sort. The Saudis and others playing silly games. Also I'm not all that optomistic on a 'consuner' recovery anytime soon. Next divi(which is only the interim)is quite a long way off so I'm just going to resist the temptation to top up. Good company, good product, but markets are very jittery right now. | losos
07/4/2016 10:08 | www.investegate.co.u Trading Statement 7 April 2016 Victrex plc: H1 pre-close trading update 'On track for expected H2 improvement' Victrex plc, an innovative world leader in high performance polymer solutions, today releases its first half year (H1) and pre-close trading update ahead of its interim results on 16 May 2016. In line with the Group's guidance at its Q1 IMS, Victrex's first half year performance was down on the prior year. Q2 was robust with volumes excluding Consumer Electronics flat compared to the record prior year, despite the weaker performance in Oil & Gas. The re-phasing of Consumer Electronics volumes to the second half year (H2), together with the tougher first half comparatives and worsening outlook in Oil & Gas, led to Group revenue declining by 11% to £117.0m (H1 2015: £131.6m). H1 Group volumes were down 13% to 1,770 tonnes (H1 2015: 2,028 tonnes). We remain encouraged that the performance in our industrial markets outside of Electronics and Oil & Gas was solid, with Transport markets in growth. In our Medical business (Invibio), performance in our core Spine market was broadly similar to the prior year. Invibio revenue for the first half was £25.2m (H1 2015: £25.9m). Our expectation for an improved second half year reflects both the robust Q2 performance and the re-phasing of Consumer Electronics volumes. Consumer Electronics volumes will be phased well into the second half, ahead of product launch cycles. This opportunity remains attractive for the current year and we expect to have a better view on the scale of volumes by our May interim results. This will provide a clearer view of whether Consumer Electronics has the potential to be similar to the second half of 2015. David Hummel, Chief Executive of Victrex, said: "We retain our view of an overall improvement in the second half and are comfortable with current expectations for the full year as a whole." | zoolook
08/2/2016 14:48 | My understanding is that they will pay out half of net cash in special dividends. After the big payment last year cash is down but in theory lower capex and assuming their good cash flow continues next year or two this should replenish the coffers and keep some extra dividends coming. In fact I just got a call from them in response to a query on arrangements for the AGM. It is in a London hotel on Wednesday Feb 10th but I cannot go. If anyone is able to attend please post here if anything of note... Frankly doesn't matter so much what one holds at present, all getting bashed (except golds). Tin helmet time. | srichardson8
08/2/2016 12:19 | srichardson8 - I can't add anything to the figures, there was talk last November about a 'new capital framework' which would enable future returns to shareholders via 'special dividends' of course I get the feeling that this would only happen if markets were 'normal' and right now I don't think they are. I've been a small private investor for a long time and I don't think I've ever seen so many negative trends happening at the same time (China, commodities, oil, Europe, not to mention the BREXIT scenario) Logic says that one or more of these should resolve in 2016 let us hope so. | losos
04/2/2016 10:57 | er what is cpr? this co is an old friend that I bought back into in December and thus nursing a pretty awful price drop. I see all the brokers put out notes in early Jan, esp JPM, at best lukewarm at worst downright negative. I suppose the large special div has gone and there is presumably some further deterioration in the end markets (?) - medical, aero & smartphone (?) perhaps, as well as more obviously energy. Against that is the reasonable looking forward ratings, strong margins and possibly forex benefit on the P & l. And progressive dividend policy combining with strong cash flow. If anyone can add any light would be much appreciated. | srichardson8
02/2/2016 15:43 | could do with some cpr here | muffinhead

23/10/2015 09:41 | Very quiet thread - probably reflective of this year's share price movements. There has been a bullish article in the IC recently. On the back of their 'good finish to 2015', a comment made in their October trading update, the company appear to be navigating pretty well through some choppy waters.Historically the share price appears to have rallied strongly towards the turn of the year after late summer / Autumn dips.Tempting. | bluerunner
