16/6/2010 23:01 | 2 directors sell almost all their shares at 10.50, including in the ceo's charitable trust, yet then see a further 10%-11% added since the sale on June 6th 2010. Someone knows something they don't or is there a hostile bid coming? | mryesyes
01/3/2010 14:54 | Hi - have a look at LSE:BSV - they have done me very well over the years and they do not make announcements like this one of today unless they are serious "BRITISH SMALLER COMPANIES VCT PLC Potential Transaction The Directors would like to announce that one of the investments of British Smaller Companies VCT plc has received a number of indicative proposals to purchase a part of its share capital. Whilst there remains considerable uncertainty that these proposals could lead to a transaction; should it complete it would have a materially positive impact on the net asset value of the shares of British Smaller Companies VCT plc. 26/2/2010 10:16 | A000257, Thank you! If we, for the time being, are the only ADVFN posters who are interested in tax free 7-8% yields on assets which can now be bought at a discount of up to 40% to NAV, that is fine by me. May I trouble you for a few more ticker codes, web links etc? Meanwhile take a look here In terms of dividend yield, discount to NAV, market cap/liquidity, and investment performance going forward, I am looking for around 10 vehicles to target. 24/2/2010 09:46 | Well - Sage of Suffolk - there appears to be so little activity on this thread that posting new seems a bit of a waste of time. However, I would add two VCTs to your list both of which pay steady dividends each year and have mature portfolios. The first is Albion Venture (previously Close VCT) LSE : AAVC and the second is Northern Venture (LSE:NVT) - which thankfully has never changed its name. both pay dividends of about 5 pence per year and both can be bought for less than 'new' VCTs i.e. they can both be bought for less than 70 pence. Both have done me well over the past 12 years. Both have a dividend reinvestment scheme as well - which has done very well for me. You get 30% off the NAV when you buy this way! What I do is set up a 'monitor' which has all the VCTs in it so that I can monitor the prices and then also quickly and easily go to the financials provided nicely by ADVFN. You can also get the price charts that way as well cos they are all nicely provided by ADVFN - except of course where the wretched VCT board has changed the name of the VCT. Sorry we can't meet up but I do have to show my passport when I come over the border from Norfolk to Suffolk | a0002577
23/2/2010 18:29 | Hi Currypasty, Any chance you can include some price graphs of a selection of VCT's in your header, and include the ones listed below also? 20/11/2008 08:30 | Initially I thought that there was a forced seller here but I think the drop is due to BASF temporarily closing 80 plants ( as well as the MS downgrade ): I'll double up if it falls low enough but I am not exactly sure where that will be.
