10/12/2018 15:14 | Strong positive recommendation from Midas in yesterday’s Mail on Sunday. Midas has written twice previously advising a BUY at £2.75 and a SELL at £8.35. Absolutely perfect timing! And yesterday recommending a BUY again. Worth reading the article. | cmw1
29/11/2018 18:43 | Yes, interestingly large stakes. Makes them exposed to a bid. | topvest
29/11/2018 11:05 | Invesco and Spruce have both added a bit since then. They now hold 25.11% and 14.81% respectively. So now 39.92% in total. Also JP Morgan have appeared on the significant shareholder list as of early November with a 4.14% holding. So all of them have been adding on this drop. They could all be wrong of course. | nivison
28/11/2018 23:17 | Well the best of British luck with it chaps. A junk bond rating and still highly rated. You make your own minds up about it. | arthur_lame_stocks
28/11/2018 22:13 | No time to do that but I'll take your word for it. No guarantee that he won't have the last laugh. However, compared with a lot of the dross in my p/f VCP seems like a shining light so it would surprise me. I didn't use the subjunctive after "if" either as it seemed pedantic in view of the general standard of spelling and punctuation. | bouleversee
28/11/2018 21:20 | I’d suggest Arthur is worth a little less derision..he may be wrong but he’s a v long track record around here that might be worth perusing before you dismiss his view so rapidly. I’ve no dog in the fight but £300m of debt isn’t ideal ..especially when combined with a botched bond issue | rhomboid
28/11/2018 21:05 | Arthur_Lame_Socks - no stock and poor grammar “But if I was looking for something...” ....”But if I were looking....” | cmw1
28/11/2018 20:16 | Arthur Lame Duck - sorry, Stocks - Ah, so you would be coming rather late to the party, then. I have been in for many years and I'm not too concerned that they don't pay a dividend because a) they paid a huge special after Wilding took over which more than paid for my purchasing costs so my 7450 shares have cost me nothing and despite the recent drop are still showing a very good paper profit on zero; b) I don't need extra income, especially if taxable ; c) I rather assumed that the company would be making better use of the money than I could. I can understand that a newcomer might find VCP less attractive, having missed out on what to me is something of a bonanza, and who knows what the future holds? Nevertheless, I think its international spread is comforting with Brexit or no Brexit looming and I can't think the directors would be investing significant sums if there was a danger of bankruptcy. No, I didn't know about the S&P credit rating and have no idea how significant/reliable that is. All I can say is that I would expect an acquisitive company to carry quite a lot of debt. Perhaps those more knowledgeable than me could comment on this aspect. Having taken advantage of the recent steep fall to gift my shares between 6 members of my family. thus spreading the risk or benefit, and to buy £10k worth more in my ISA, I am just keeping my fingers crossed that that will turn out well but that is not what keeps me awake at night. As you say, time will tell, but at this moment I am not bovvered and I can't think they will go bust overnight. Wilding is a very shrewd operator. Someone commented about the FD's failure to buy along with his colleagues. That could be entirely for personal reasons. Does anyone know what his holding is? | bouleversee
28/11/2018 17:36 | To answer the question I don't have any position in this company, I just took a look at them today and decided I think they will go bust and the equity is worthless. | arthur_lame_stocks
28/11/2018 16:59 | One last point. Have you asked yourself why Standard & Poor's have given them a credit rating of BB- and do you know what this means? | arthur_lame_stocks
28/11/2018 16:51 | Well we'll have to agree to differ and let time be our judge. But by the way have you ever asked why the company doesn't pay a dividend? It's because it can't afford to. | arthur_lame_stocks
28/11/2018 16:31 | Arthur Lame Stocks - Do you actually own any shares in VCP? | bouleversee
28/11/2018 16:14 | bouleversee,I think you are correct, we tend to have these vultures flying around on this board from time to time. They soon move off to spread their doom and gloom elsewhere | rotrader
28/11/2018 15:55 | I'm not a shorter, but if I was looking for something to short i'd start with this awful company. | arthur_lame_stocks
28/11/2018 15:54 | I see Invesco has now upped its stake to over 25%. Presumably they haven't a clue what they are doing? | bouleversee
28/11/2018 15:51 | It's an international company. I doubt if a UK property correction or consumer spending squeeze here would have much effect. If this is a truly dreadful investment, I'd love to have some examples of better ones. Sounds like a shorter's last wheeze. | bouleversee
28/11/2018 15:39 | I reckon this will go bust soon myself, it's horribly overgeared and we're heading into a major property market correction and consumer spending squeeze. The balance sheet consists of hot air and the company hardly generates any cash already. A truly dreadful investment. | arthur_lame_stocks
28/11/2018 11:49 | Of course the share sale's were in order to meet continuing institutional demand. At the time. | rotrader
28/11/2018 11:44 | Mr Wilding (Camden)sold 4m at 460p in april last year and another 5m at 827p in august this year. So i think he can probably afford to buy a few more. One director stands out in his absence of this share buying - the finance director - Mr Scott | rotrader
28/11/2018 09:42 | Topvest - Could you please remind us how many Wilding sold and at what price. | bouleversee
28/11/2018 08:46 | Well, that shows belief: Wilding just invested £5 million of his own cash buying shares yesterday! (Two other directors also bought shares - putting their money where their mouth is). No-one, no matter how rich, would invest that amount of money without believing the shares are on their way up. I’m staying in for the ride. | cmw1
27/11/2018 19:33 | It's not really significant until Wilding buys back more than he recently sold. | topvest
27/11/2018 18:51 | More than a few. Wilding 1million and Anton 50k. My guess is that Wilding is planning to take it private but what do I know? | bouleversee
27/11/2018 17:42 | Good to see the Directors buying a few. | rotrader |
