Talking about textiles (well, Neill is) can we think of a recognisable brand with headquarters in Cheltenham and connections to South Korea? Maybe a brand that is struggling and needs a new sales angle to revive its fortunes? Superdry.

It's defiantly something to keep eye on. Matthew the bearings could benefit from graphene as well. As trying to get the platter spinning faster is always key to faster performance and higher density. If it comes off then market is huge potential. But based on experience the HDD manufacturers will already have their life cycle plans up to 2025. As working for a company involved in storage solutions, we had access to their road maps of the HDD manufacturers in order to develop the storage solutions. So in summary could be good earner in few years but it won't be revenue for a while yet

Log Lorry, Tim Kempster called this absolutely spot on from 2018 onwards. He was right in every aspect.Strangely though, he disappeared.I just wish I'd listened to him at 180p, and not Ricketts and Wood. I wonder why he no longer posts?

Pcjoe - if VRS were going to make HUGE announcements in H2, it's strange that Ricketts should risk attracting negative publicity by kicking off a legal action, no? Instead, I think most people see the lawsuit as a sign of desperation. If HUGE news was coming, wouldn't he let that do the talking for him? Just my opinion, of course...

Hello flatcoat,

I was also thinking of the high temperature magneto optical type Hard disk

recently talked about somewhere..

The article talks about HDD but the title tags about computer memory, two totally different things.HDD capacity is always going to be a big money spinner. Have worked with Seagate and WD when the max capacity was 1TB per disk up to 20TB. These HDD use 5 platters per HDD. The biggest problem the hard drive manufacturers experience is what's called RVI. The disk spin very fast and with multiple heads and vibration from neighbouring HDD effect the position. So of using graphene enables more platters then they will have to develop better bearings to reduce vibration.Whilst it could be a good market of it comes off there are other technology which may replace the large capacity hard drives. I'm aware Southampton university demonstrated a 5D optical device capable of storing 360TB of data on a disk the size of a 10phttps://www.southampton.ac.uk/news/2016/02/5d-data-storage-update.page

For sure the whole Graphene thing (so far) appears to be the biggest waste of money ever spent - What quantity (and value) of real graphene produced per annum actually and currently ends up in a real product after a good few years now? - Even given the almost certainly tiny laboratory scale global production, one would have though that the mighty graphene should have ended up in some wide spread used micro tech thingy or other to enable some profit to be turned for any Co.?

For sure Versarien still in the game but shareholder goodwill and patience not being rewarded so far - In January 2021 VRS claimed that second half 2021 would bring about several very important updates re commercialisation etc - Hopefully not more BS & lies - They do have a product and can produce Lab scale quantities if nothing more, for testing/research only (Was that 3T machine just BS as well?) - Commercial production & actual price beneficial commercial demand now required - we there yet? - I have a bet back on that reflects the potential rewards here - But enough o the historic snake oil pish please Neil - just get on with it FFS - to be fair the old Tweet etc cascade of nonsense has dried up a bit - Im taking that as a good sign and a possibility that commercialisation might (just??!!) be in sight

Hello Whatsthepoint,

Your find is interesting. If you can put finished hard disk platers,

(the metal disk inside a hard drive that spin round) side by side in a jig

and use this 'large area' CVD process we got in South Korea to 'coat' them

with a perfect 2 atom thick CVD layer that would be 'neat' !

Just my silly idea...

Does anyone remember what operation #seesaw was? I faintly remember it being a thing at one time. Was it before or after the big five, gscale, masks etc etc. I can't remember what BigT was? So many things that were going on, pivot here, pivot there and still everyone awaits a market news worthy release where graphene has been sold, to someone, somewhere, for an agreed price and in quantity (recurring delivery too much to also ask for?)
