Hello flatcoat,

I was also thinking of the high temperature magneto optical type Hard disk

recently talked about somewhere..

The article talks about HDD but the title tags about computer memory, two totally different things.HDD capacity is always going to be a big money spinner. Have worked with Seagate and WD when the max capacity was 1TB per disk up to 20TB. These HDD use 5 platters per HDD. The biggest problem the hard drive manufacturers experience is what's called RVI. The disk spin very fast and with multiple heads and vibration from neighbouring HDD effect the position. So of using graphene enables more platters then they will have to develop better bearings to reduce vibration.Whilst it could be a good market of it comes off there are other technology which may replace the large capacity hard drives. I'm aware Southampton university demonstrated a 5D optical device capable of storing 360TB of data on a disk the size of a 10phttps://www.southampton.ac.uk/news/2016/02/5d-data-storage-update.page

For sure the whole Graphene thing (so far) appears to be the biggest waste of money ever spent - What quantity (and value) of real graphene produced per annum actually and currently ends up in a real product after a good few years now? - Even given the almost certainly tiny laboratory scale global production, one would have though that the mighty graphene should have ended up in some wide spread used micro tech thingy or other to enable some profit to be turned for any Co.?

For sure Versarien still in the game but shareholder goodwill and patience not being rewarded so far - In January 2021 VRS claimed that second half 2021 would bring about several very important updates re commercialisation etc - Hopefully not more BS & lies - They do have a product and can produce Lab scale quantities if nothing more, for testing/research only (Was that 3T machine just BS as well?) - Commercial production & actual price beneficial commercial demand now required - we there yet? - I have a bet back on that reflects the potential rewards here - But enough o the historic snake oil pish please Neil - just get on with it FFS - to be fair the old Tweet etc cascade of nonsense has dried up a bit - Im taking that as a good sign and a possibility that commercialisation might (just??!!) be in sight

Hello Whatsthepoint,

Your find is interesting. If you can put finished hard disk platers,

(the metal disk inside a hard drive that spin round) side by side in a jig

and use this 'large area' CVD process we got in South Korea to 'coat' them

with a perfect 2 atom thick CVD layer that would be 'neat' !

Just my silly idea...

Does anyone remember what operation #seesaw was? I faintly remember it being a thing at one time. Was it before or after the big five, gscale, masks etc etc. I can't remember what BigT was? So many things that were going on, pivot here, pivot there and still everyone awaits a market news worthy release where graphene has been sold, to someone, somewhere, for an agreed price and in quantity (recurring delivery too much to also ask for?)

"so what is your problem?"

Not answering for fest at all but just speculating, could the issue be that NR, PJA & their flying monkeys on ADVFN & social media sites sought to manipulate the share price upwards by issuing a steady stream of posts & tweets that turned out to be based on not a lot, as two years later the failure of the VRS boys to secure even one order attests??

How could so many things that looked so bright & were so revved up turn out to have been hot air every single time?

All IMHO, of course.

Fest..... not really! You claim to have traded this share like myself several times over and you brag/claim to have made monies so what is your problem?.... Or are you just an gloating attention seeking cretin?

I had basically come to my senses by then, and I think I had either sold down, or was in the process of it.Others most likely did the same, but didn't broadcast it like I did.Two years on, I do believe that those buying shares at that juncture have a strong reason to feel aggrieved.

Rogerbridge, Ellis J and the others are probably very embarrassed about those posts two years ago, if they are not, they should be.Tim3416 is another one who has since fallen silent. They were basing their exuberance on Neil's tweets about China, BigT, imminent expectations of a China presentation, and Patrick Abbott's insane ramping. SuperG also took it to a higher level saying that the big reveal must be close, and Neil was letting us know all he could without breaking the rules.Any of you guys feel hoodwinked?

From LSEComputer Storage density enhancement using grapheneMon 21:23I came across some interesting papers which indicate close involvement by Versarien subsidiary Cambridge Graphene which have been published in nature. I must confess to being unable to grasp some of the heavier technical information contained, but to me it is yet another field where Graphene and Versarien are leading the way to more leaps ahead in technical advances. https://www.graphene.cam.ac.uk/news/graphene-enables-ten-times-higher-data-storage-in-computer-memories

My favourite line from that article; "the *race* to zero emissions". It's gone from being a necessary trudge that might take decades, to an utmost priority needed immediately, which businesses will compete over in order to demonstrate they have gone further, faster

" We are delighted to announce the formation of the Versarien Graphene Advisory Panel ("VGap") as part of our strategy to commercialise the many opportunities and applications we have whilst keeping abreast of future requirements. It will create a platform for the debate and advancement of graphene technology and its applications, enabling a firm foundation for the present and the future. The calibre of panel members is a testament to our commitment and to the shared ambition to cement our position in the graphene industry."

Apart from being delighted has anything actually come from this?

Molj....I agree to a certain degree with your assumption. This is probably a bigger baby than NR first envisaged actually bringing this project too a fruition point for investors. It appears NR is going for the bigger commercial deals which obviously are taking longer to bring from a collaboration to commercial deal.
It as been a great share to trade over the past 24mths but both past and present investors have to remember this is a highly speculative stock on the aim and must recognise all risks attached.

A day or so ago I mentioned what a great coup is was to have Matt Walker as part of the team...

A bit more about one of our highly respected NEDs, Iain Gray...

For me the people who want to be associated with a company speaks volumes ....and those who don't....also speaks volumes...I'm delighted with the company that this company is attracting....

Smythe - and therein lies the crux of the matter. I did the GEIC visit at the time and wrote about timescales and suggested NR was being too exuberant on this topic. From memory at the time I think I was suggesting a year might be more realistic. And here we are several years later and nada, zilch, sfa. Being honest giving scores as to why I invested in VRS back then - graphene and 2 D materials 6/10, the supposed (in hindsight not true) intimate knowledge of graphene and the company posted by some here 6/10, the bullishness of NR as to timescales and scale of revenues 8/10.
All told I do invest in projects which are many years ahead - for example just making first forays into lab meat/dairy/fish/leather. Fraction of my first purchase into VRS, why ... well even Jim Mellon is telling us we are years away. Compare and contrast to NR in 2018 and does he bear a huge degree of responsibility for anybody who invested during those 18 months as an investment. I'd say yes, he 100% insinuated on near weekly basis that VRS were far far further along the track than they actually were.

"I'd like to have reaped most of my profits in 2 years time or less."

I suspect that in c.2 years' time the 4th industrial revolution will just be kicking off (though that's not to say the VRS share price couldn't be far far higher than it is now). Might take 5-10 years to reach full steam. When there are articles everywhere in the mainstream press about the new wonder material we'll know it has arrived (and lots of new investors with it)...

Clubbie/Sloppy....says it will take 5/10 yrs your honour!
