30/7/2019 07:35 | Nice one Shavian ;-) Thanks jointer13. That book she has taken the lead in is getting wide coverage - Googling "Nicola Gillen" graphene produces lots of reviews. Lots of architects will be reading it. Very interesting that she clearly understands the role that graphene and other 2d materials will play - in personal clothing, batteries, sensors, office floorcoverings, lighting controls, etc, etc. | grabster

30/7/2019 07:05 | Nicola Gillen Nicola Gillen is Director and Global Practice Lead for Strategy Plus at AECOM. An architect with a business degree, Nicola specialises in the relationship between behaviour and the built environment, and leads on the future of work and offices for AECOM globally. architecture specialist Nicola Gillen is the lead author of the Royal Institute of British Architects' design guide, Future Office: Next-Generation Workplace Design. Personalised heating and cooling Photo: Nicola Gillen says in offices of the future, we could have personalised cooling and heating. (Supplied: AECOM) Gillen believes one day workers will wear their own "environmental conditions" to avoid feeling hot or cold at work. She says there are projections that graphene, a form of carbon that can radiate or extract heat, will become a "super material" that can be woven into clothing. Once in your clothes, you should be able to control and "personalise" your temperature, says Gillen. That would have an impact extending beyond an individual's comfort. "One of the interesting implications then, for office buildings, is we may no longer be fitting expensive mechanical and electrical heating, and air-conditioning into buildings," Gillen says. "We may simply be wearing it ourselves." The office is dead. Long live the office. Despite decades of predictions that the office is on the verge of extinction, it is surviving and thriving. Of course things are changing. And changing fast. Digital technologies are transforming not only the work we do, but also the ways our workplaces are designed, built and operated. Automation and AI mean that some jobs will no longer exist whilst others will be created. But the very essence of the workplace — human interaction and collaboration, remains as necessary as ever. In fact, it is the human focus that is driving this new age, with four generations now in the workplace together for the first time. Taking an interdisciplinary approach, this book discusses the impacts of these changes on the future of work and workplace. The latest technologies are also explored from voice and digital twins, to new materials such as graphene and battery-powered buildings. The book looks at what this means for the design process, the role of the architect and physical place itself in the future, and provides a practical guide to help architects, designers, developers, clients and occupiers create office spaces that promote wellbeing, innovation and growth. | jointer13

29/7/2019 23:08 | Zoo - Been and gone apparently but not available to the plebs. Property of the Nomad for distribution to its sophisticated (paying) II clients. The irony of course is that most posters on this BB are better informed about VRS and the underlying industries than the Nomad or IIs so I don’t think we’ve missed out. AIMHO etc. | lovat scout

29/7/2019 21:17 | Fortunately we have control on all the strings to be pulled. Unlike other commodities, we are the only verified producers, when demand rises or falls we control the price cycle, well that’s our current enviable position. I know there are those who have IOF in their portfolio and all looks favourable but there is little control on the price side, apart from the specialty chemicals. VRS are in an extremely desirable place, if that commanding position is used in a palatable manor with their partners. Price and Cash are King and Queen. | fireball xl5

29/7/2019 16:36 | owenga, I do not care whether people are buying or selling Versarien at present. IMO we will not have to wait long for the next move up. BIGT is on the way and when it is announced then whoosh...If all goes to plan it should be all done next month and considering how long some investors have held the stock a month is not a long time. Personally, I have nothing to do with Festario and have him filtered. | phoenixs
29/7/2019 16:18 | I'm happy with how things are Ash, both shares feel poised for a decent move up, but for very different reasons. But we always think that though, don't we?.... or we'd never buy shares would we? | festario
29/7/2019 16:15 | Fest atleast good that you listened to others and diversified your portfolio. Is it diversified now or this balancing is done on daily basis? | ashehzi |
