Foolishben.

That's where facts fly in the face of speculation.

Miton sold about 530k in November from the 2 funds (fact)

They then sold about 704K in December from the 2 funds (fact).

The one fund was down to over 800k and the other to over 500k for a combined total of about 1.4 mill in January.

It seems Bego had a 1 mill sell volume of supply in early Jan and the likely main supplier was Miton. That does not mean they didn't already have some on their books but was a likely indicator that Miton had once again been active. So until January figures are known we can't be sure who but the chief suspect is Miton.

Then we have Herald who have been reducing down from 7 mill shares and did the odd 50k in those months to enter January with 727k.

Its been an unstable market for the last month or two and typically funds will exit small caps.

We don't have that issue of jittery funds ordering small caps exit as we simply don't have any large fund holders left in VRS. That is part reason why it's difficult to short VRS.

For large reliable short interest with various clients interested you need a large holder (typically a fund) that has lent out their stock for shorting.

NDA comes before progression to collaboration. I suspect VRS filter and discard the time wasters at this point so NDAs not progressing is not necessarily bad news.

AIMHO etc

Edit - beat me to it Megan and far more eloquently!

Oh for God's sake can we put this one to bed please... some appear keen to jump on this as an issue it is not. As explained yesterday an NDA follows either into a collaboration or something further. It will not reach a collaboration or further if the economics will not work out ... for either the customer OR Versarien... this is a key part of their fuelling process. I am sure some NDAs will not proceed for a number of reasons ... if all on DKs list progressed then they would be running around scattergun like headless chickens. They are not they are picking and choosing and indeed in the near term (this could be now e.g. AECOM through 2019) very much on 5 big ones in different verticals. As explained by others this approach allows them to prove themselves in a big way and truly establish themselves as the global leader. Most companies at collaboration phase want anonymity so that they get all the competitive advantage. This is key.My impression was that nothing major has been lost. NR was making an important point that loose lips can sink ships. Read DKs pipeline slides. How much more exciting can it get. This is an aircraft carrier going into the fray not a speedboat. The potential is massive, the strategy is clear and the delivery is happening ... look no further than AECOM and airline.

pshevlin, that's what I am saying, maybe I could have worded it better but the word failed came from VRS.

DaveMac why do you assume anything has "failed"? If the initial talks have not progressed because of cost it may well be because the product/application was not suitable. Why would we continue with it in that case?

No engagement to date has failed due to product performance

This is a bit vague, could be that things have failed because VRS are charging too much?

No, My apologies mj10 for my cheek ! Just observing you seem bearish here and bullish there relatively speaking. Or did ! Yes, me and wife were in itm, both out with a profit luckily. Bear signal for me was hargreaves resigning from the board right after the 40p fundraise autumn 17. And with potential of vrs coming to the surface then, we jumped horses majority of holding. All out in 18. I hope you have the clarification you need re vrs now. Atb ellis

MJ10 - My impression is that we will be advised if any of the RNS'd collaborations fall through. It think it's safe to assume that the one that did drop out was one of the multiple NDA's they have not announced, for which they cannot and need not announce if/when discussions end.

I think referring to 'the seller' is a bit misleading. Yes Milton have been reducing their position significantly over the last few months but if it we're only them selling there has been enough volume for them to have been all out ages ago. Selling this morning is likely to be from PI's at the trader end of the spectrum who expected price sensitive news this week. They'll be buying back in on the next sniff of news no doubt and may get caught out if something Aecom related drops sooner than expected. Let's also not forget that the CFO is in China this week, there must be a very good reason for that.

SuperG/ Graham. Further to our chat yesterday I contacted ii this a.m. and received the following message.

re: Share loans

09:09 today general query
Dear Mr Shevlin,

Thanks very much for your secure message.

We can confirm that the investments held by our customers are not used to
facilitate 'shorting'.

Your investments are held by us on your behalf and are not accessible to
any other parties to allow them execute different trading practices.

We could perhaps now post a list of Safe and Unsafe brokers so that we can all be sure our stock is not being used against us.

This is just weak knee'd shareholders who were hoping for a big announcement at the open day yesterday. Volume is low and not representative of the majority of holders. Good food takes time to prepare

"If a collab has been lost because of clues how does that tie in with the statement...no collabs lost to date?" (MJ10 post 57375)

I'm guessing that's why the company now adds the phrase No collaborations lost "due to material performance" -or .. "due to product failure".

In other words something HAS been lost - for some other reason (NDA breach or whatever)
