BBR reaches agreement with Northeast US water authority and partners with Isle Utilities to carry out a targeted market survey in the US

Verditek plc, (AIM: VDTK), the clean technology company, is pleased to announce that its subsidiary, BBR Filtration Limited ("BBR"), a filtration deodorisation company, has agreed to undertake a trial with a water authority in Northeast of the United States ("US").

BBR has also partnered with Isle Utilities, an internationally renowned innovation technologist, in order to undertake a market survey to research odour problems at treatment plants and lift stations across the US.

BBR has reached a preliminary agreement with a water authority in the Northeast US to commence a trial in early spring 2018 at a wastewater treatment plant where odour control has become one of the authority's main priorities. The water authority believes that BBR's filtration technology will provide an innovative, efficient and cost effective solution to its current ineffective odour control processes.

BBR commissioned Isle Utilities to undertake a 'Voice of Market' survey with a number of US water authorities across eight states. The objective of the survey was to establish the magnitude and scale of odour problems at treatment plants and lift stations, explore the efficacy of existing removal and control solutions, and gauge the current and future demand for new solutions to replace underperforming systems.

The results are extremely encouraging and illustrate that over 70% of the water authorities contacted in this survey, who operate a total of more than 1,500 sewage pumping stations, reported major odour issues. As a result, 9 companies have provisionally agreed to meet with BBR immediately in order to consider the use of BBR's biofiltration technology.

Following the result of this survey, BBR will continue to work closely with Isle Utilities on further market research commissions, aimed at helping BBR to establish and grow its manufacturing and business base in the US, and other territories including Europe and Australasia.

Verditek's CEO, Theo Chapman, commented: "This feedback is critical to progress, and is a milestone in establishing BBR Filtration as a key player in the wastewater industry. The results demonstrate, not only the attractiveness of our unique system and BBR's recognition as a technology leader in its field, but also the scale of the potential market in the US".

A Consultant for Isle Utilities, Kevin Weeks, added: "The study has been a huge success in establishing the potential market opportunity for BBR, in an area where it is clear that other, conventional systems have many drawbacks. We are excited at the continuing prospect of developing the partnership further and assisting BBR in rolling out this unique, sustainable technology across the US".

BBR Filtration (BBR)

BBR Filtration technology is an air purification and odour control system with significant commercial advantages over other bio-filtration technologies. The process uses efficient water recycling ancillary systems to minimise raw water use, and pH control is affected by low caustic dosing. The final polishing phase results in the discharge of practically clean, odour free air to the atmosphere with an on-board computer to remotely monitor the system and report irregularities. The System only requires: three-phase electrical power, normal mains water supply, sewer drainage and inlet and outlet air ducts. The technology successfully removes over 99% of hydrogen sulphide from wastewater streams.
