Big news yes. I don’t know why people wait for it. Just buy low when nobody is looking or everyone is bored after the hype has gone and wait.

Nothing confirmed but:

Whitehouse ‘introduces’ Sustainable Aviation Fuel Act

“Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., on 13 May 2021 introduced the Sustainable Aviation Fuel Act, which aims to incentivize the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF)…… the bill includes tax credits to support SAF. It would establish a new blenders tax credit for SAF between $1.50 and $1.75 per gallon, depending on the fuel’s greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction”

Track it here;

It simply boils down to whether a global blenders tax credit for SAF will be introduced. If it is, VLS' approach / technology has the largest readily available feedstock (household rubbish, and the likes of woody biomass in SE America) and is also one of, if not the most economical (2.5 times of the cost of conventional jet fuel).

BA recently mentioned up to 14 SAF plants in the UK in the next 10 years. 1 is the large scale LanzaJet plant. Who will the other 13 plants be with?

marktime, just googled how much waste goes to landfill. Answer 21 million tonnes pa in the UK. Altalto scheduled to take 500,000 Tonnes, so would doubt if the availability of waste is going to be the problem.
Just done some rough calculations. I estimate that 60 million litres of SAF would supply BA with fuel for 6-7 days. So they would need another 54 of these plants worldwide to be 100% SAF
