A couple of bits from Japan. 27 April 2021: “All Nippon Airways is considering swift development of domestic output and supply chain of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) as a key effort towards a new 2050 goal to decarbonise its aircraft operations”. The article references agreements with Neste and LanzaTech but also mentions that it is “collaborating with Japanese firms Toshiba, Toyo Engineering…” before then mentioning Velocys. hTtps://www.argusmedia.com/en/news/2209322-japans-ana-mulls-domestic-fuel-output-supply-chain?backToResults=true The above follows this from 22 April 2021; “Japan raises emissions reduction target to 46% by 2030……Japan’s prime minister has announced an ambitious new target for cutting greenhouse gas emissions……Suga said he will maximize the use of renewables and other non-carbon power sources, provide support for local decarbonizing efforts and encourage investment”. hTtps://abcnews.go.com/Technology/wireStory/japan-raises-emissions-cut-target-26-2030-77237114

Every business has its own business model, its your choice to believe in it or not. It doesn't mean the business can't be successful. ITM Power sells electrolysers not hydrogen or fuel cells and years away from being profitable but has a MCap over £2bn. VLS FT technology offers the best solution to decarbonise aviation at the same time solve the problem of plastic waste. Biofuels are increasingly coming under ESG scrutiny. https://www.transportenvironment.org/press/uk%E2%80%99s-imports-dubious-%E2%80%98used%E2%80%99-cooking-oil-set-rise-fuelling-deforestation

IAG “…With the right policy in place in the next ten years up to 14 plants could be built across the UK”. BA announcement with LanzaJet 9 Feb 2021 “BA is investing in LanzaJet as the company builds its first commercial scale plant in Georgia, USA. BA will purchase SAF from LanzaJet’s US plant to power a number of the airline’s flights from late 2022. Deal also involves LanzaJet conducting early stage planning for a (ie singular) potential large scale commercial SAF biorefinery in the UK”; hTtps://mediacentre.britishairways.com/pressrelease/details/86/0/12796 Is that 13 VLS / BA plants then in the next 10 years?

We shouln't be in a partnership to develop the fuel........We should have already made the fuel and have some to sell already!....Then join a production partner to to ramp up a mass roll out....We will end up with a contract sell to tin boxes for others to use...We have been here before sadly. The oil company makes the profits not the drilling rig manufacturer.

6 April 2021 – “The World Economic Forum has just recently backed sustainable aviation fuel as the most promising decarbonation policy for the airline industry. With research confirming that aviation is one now of the fastest-growing sources of greenhouse gas emissions, a solution comes in the shape of the UK’s first waste-to-jet fuel plant, and for which planning consent was won by Enzygo for its client, Velocys.” hTtps://www.enzygo.com/enzygo-secures-planning-permission-waste-to-jet-fuel/ (info from sensetalka on l s e) Edit; it looks like this piece has been compiled / updated following "Additional funding will still be required to get to full construction stage but this was given a boost in March 2021 when the UK government launched a £15 million competition to develop UK facilities which convert household waste into aircraft fuel"

It looks nailed on that (EU) exemptions / incentives will transfer from 'fossil fuels' to ‘clean energy’, albeit, we may have to wait till June for this. 20 April 2021: “The reform of the EU Energy Taxation Directive, to be proposed in June, will target tax breaks for fossil fuels and will instead provide incentives for clean energy, officials said Tuesday at a European Commission green taxation seminar”. hTtps://news.bloombergtax.com/daily-tax-report/eu-to-push-for-aviation-shipping-fuel-taxes

Net Zero means different things to different people. Ask a small shareholder in VOG.No sharing out of grant monies. - Seminars, joint arrangements backscratching associates key appointments and high salaries.- Small scale accademincs they are not!

The main thing they need is policy change; as does the entire SAF industry. But without it Net Zero 2050 won't be happening.
