Hopefully, news of sorts, some time soon re: 1 Feb 2020 Humber's freeport bid goes to government this week as a catalyst for further green growth... The Humber’s freeport bid, carrying with it hopes of thousands of jobs and millions of pounds of investment, will be sent to Whitehall this week... Those behind the bid’s steering committee, chaired by Associated British Ports’ Humber director, Simon Bird, said it will act as a catalyst to accelerate growth in debarbonisation and offshore wind operations, maintenance and manufacturing... Mr Bird said: “...Growth will be focused on business that will help us to decarbonise our economy and create a green and sustainable economy for the future"... The region is already home to the UK’s busiest ports complex in Immingham... Pioneer Park, a new industrial estate is just emerging, with EV specialist MyEnergi literally leading the charge, while green jet fuel developer Velocys has also secured planning consent for a new refinery" hTtps://www.business-live.co.uk/ports-logistics/humbers-freeport-bid-goes-government-19740437.amp

General piece - 24 Jan 2021 - "The airport (East Midlands) recorded its ‘heaviest’ ever peak season for air cargo. 46,320 tonnes of goods were handled at EMA in December, an increase of 43% compared with the same month in 2019 (32,281)" hTtps://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/news/local-news/east-midlands-airport-shifted-thousands-4917610

OT Picks and shovels? If you want some bread with butter AND hydrogen jam you might want to nose around a hydrogen-fueled RNS that will have flown mostly under the radar. A bit more like a paper plane perhaps. hxxps://www.tfphydrogen.com/ Epic: CRPR G.

General piece seemingly from today, though it still connects Shell with Velocys / BA. It includes: "By the end of the 2010s, commercial flights burnt more than 400 billion litres a year, a demand 500,000 times higher than the amount of available SAF, which totalled 8 million litres" htTps://eandt.theiet.org/content/articles/2021/01/future-fuels-change-the-balance-of-power/

Interesting post on l s e which copied a response from Radnor Capital, Velocys' retained outside investor relations advisor, and which concluded: "Given the broader macro picture on the need to reduce aviation emissions, the outlook for Velocys remains positive despite yesterday's news. Yours sincerely"

What did Shell bring to the party anyway? VLS and BA will get the UK funding they need The guardian article will make BEIS even more determined to fund this. Its in Boris' 10 point plan. [https://www.theguardian.com/business/2021/jan/19/shell-pulls-out-of-joint-venture-to-build-uk-sustainable-jet-fuels-plant] The share price is now a great entry point

Always love statements like these - "Shell remains supportive of the project in broad terms" What does that even mean in reality, are they paying money into it or not, support without money is just hot air and noise. Whoever pumps the most dosh into this assumes the most risk, and for that risk will want the lions share of the business which will equal control of the asset at some point.... That wont be zero income producer glorified project manager wannabe VLS. VLS will dilute again at some point when it needs more money and others will start to own bigger chunks of whatever VLS actually own, which is a big lump of stainless steel and some experience in what to do with it, nothing more. As said, this is not a business.

"Shell remains supportive of the project in broad terms" Then why ditch it if Shell is going Green Energy ??

50/50 How does that work then, VLS aint got no money and building a refinery is expensive. Nothing to drive this now, I'd guess the share price will drift down on a reality check, they'll be needed more money at some point.

LONGSPUR New note out this afternoon... "Velocys has announced a change in the partnership developing the Altalto sustainable aviation fuel project with Shell moving on and Velocys now splitting the project 50/50 with British Airways. Despite being no longer formally involved, Shell remains supportive of the project in broad terms. British Airways continues to view the project as vital to its net zero target"

Remember, this isnt something BA is doing for fun. This is in response to govt legislation to reduce co2 emmission etc so this is a core critical mission for BA / IAG. I know BP are in this space and are JV'g with another third party doing the same thing. Be interesting to see who BA choses as they will probably have final say over any third party.

I wouldn't get involved in shorting if you don't already know how to do it. The best way for the retail investor is to open a spreadbet account

Stop/lossed out this morning. Given that not long ago the price was below 2,and the enormous froth over green energy, my punt would be lower than 7. The withdrawal of Shell looks a major issue, if anyone is expert on producing fuel, it ought to be Shell and they had no competitor involved, so I would read that as them not really caring if a competitor did get involved, so they don't rate the prospects. Just leaves a hopeful customer, not a supplier . On balance I think the punt would be to buy back in low on the hope that another supplier comes in . But it would need to be very low to tempt me again. If I knew how to short it, I think I would.....can anyone tell me how you do it ?
