08/11/2017 00:55 | The problem with Vedanta is that you need to be a forensic accountant to really understand the debt on the balance sheet. The PLC has all the debt and all the cash is at the subsidiaries. Funnelling the cash up is not tax effective, so the net debt numbers are worse when this is taken into consideration. They really need to get the gross debt down at the PLC and despite reasonably healthy commodity markets they are not really achieving this goal. That is the reason this stock stays heavy. However, it is very cheap given the recent growth in accounting EBITDA (profits at the subsidiaries). | the original goldbug | |
