Look at mrkt cap-miniscule. Too many punters thinking in terms of relative share price performance and not the fundamentals. Debt big now relative to mrkt cap but that can change very quickly with companies like this. Global growth and demand for commodities, esp in emerging mkts and (now with Trump infrastructure spend in the US) could seriously create a shortage in no time. Very few mega miners to meet this and the likes of Ved could quickly reach mrkt cap of the likes of AAl , even Rio or Blt at some stage. As a company it is doing the right things and even its oil production (for present mrkt cap) should have it in a different league as it is. imo

zcaprd7,

Totally understand, been there with Taylor Wimpey and Barratt Homes selling out completely after 100% plus gains, wish l had the experience back then. Now my strategy is to take the book value out and ride it out. Difficulty now though is when to sell the 'profit'.

I think selling on a doubling of the profit would be very tempting as greed can sometimes bite back.

salver2,

Good to have a discussion about it :)

Yes. If you've doubled your money, it seems fair. But I've had a few ten baggers crippled by that concept...

salver,

Basically l have a position outside my ISA @ 411 where i've taken the book value out above 100% profit. I also have a position in the ISA @ 535.72 therefore if l get to 1050 (>95% profit) l will take take the book value out. I will then let the 'profit' for both positions ride for a period i'm unsure off but i'll be risk free and still able to take dividends.

I never understand thoughts like target 1050 so icanreduce - why don't you relax reinvest the dividends and have another look in a few years time - I have fund manager who lives next door to me and he bought some shares at 80 pence and sold them at 120- because he made a good profit - two years later they are over a fiver a share with dividends - he took that profit bought shares in another company and has lost 30 percent - this is one of the reasons hedge funds and asset managers fail to make money - just relax if you have invested in a good company don't churn your portfolio ! I don't want to sound smug but this is from long experience

This lot are you flying! Glad I held (and topped up) through the dark days... I thought after the Indian elections they were a good long term hold, we might just get back to there...

I have held Barrett for the last 7 years and every article used. To bang on about their debt. Even when they became debt free - - journalists and brokers are just ignorant and lazy and don't think further than last year !

Agree salver-they don't. Mrkt cap less than £3Bln but one of the worlds major miners (not forgetting oil) in the making-not a minnow. Compare to BLT, Rio etc. A couple of really good years and debt will be a non issue. imo

Interesting interview with anil Agarwaltoday in which amongst other things he mentions next years ebitda to be about 4.5 billionollars which is miles ahead of all the brokers forecasts - I think the brokers are well behind the curve here and the share is worth nearer the 13 to 15 pound range - brokers in fact have no idea how to value this co

Copper Posts 17-Month High on Demand Bet as Citi Sees Strength

An index of the six main metals traded in London surged last month by the most since 2010 on bets that consumption will increase. In the U.S., President-elect Donald Trump has pledged to spend as much as $1 trillion on infrastructure, boosting the outlook for demand.

Well l held KAZ in the last recession to above £10.

My current average is 179 so l want a minimum 700p . I'm personally not buying any further commodities as already hold KAZ/VED both with their book value taken out.

However, these stocks are really sensitive to the copper price so depends if we see further rises there.

Have a read of this,

DYOR in particular on copper

Taken book value out and left profit running as per KAZ.

ISA still has original position running will take out around 1050p.
