Just because its on AIM does not give them the right to do what they have done. Your average shopkeeper is more open and honest than these guys. And at your corner shop you can go in and see what's on the shelves. If it's one stale donut and a packet of crisps then you know all is not well. With Vane they have promised lots but we don't actually get to look and see whats on the shelves. Thanks to so called regulation, they can tell us the shelves are well stocked and we have no way of confirming this.

"disingenuous" i agree but these guys run a tiny company..no more talented than your average shop keeper.. I have been guilty of giving them more credit than I should have, the failed and like most people just creep away, standard behaviour, why would you expect anything else..just because its on rinky dinky aim

Jack - I can accept things not working out if people hold their hands up and explain what happened. There has been none of that with these guys. From a maiden profit in the interims to will the last one turn out the lights, and no explanations at all. That's gutless and disingenuous.

"Whatever happens, I am sure existing shareholders will get shafted." well you don't need to have any doubt or surprise here the exisiting shareholders have been diluted by about half...it is twice as difficult for you to get back to your averages...mine being 5p....if i think that is going to happen i should buy now because that is a 1400% return!

Vane Minerals simply failed, thats all, happens all the time. Thats why it is a gamble, Various managments tried their best over the last 11 years but maybe stratedgy has been off several times. Welcome the new approach rather than rolling over for a slow boring dwindling demise. Good luck to Rose and good bye to vane

rmart - sorry but I don't agree with you. They have barely two pennies to rub together and now they are going into shale gas. I wonder what Krys Hefton knows about that. Whatever happens, I am sure existing shareholders will get shafted.

Thinking - Where do you want to start regarding misguiding? And which regulating body would actually give a toss that they have misguided or would do anything about it?

A little confusing to me as they have not really mentioned that they are generating revenue but seem to be indicating that they will go after the trend of the moment, shale gas !!!! The money wont last long by the time they have recruited the 'experts' in the field !! Very dissapointed and feel completely misguided by previous announcements.

Well at least this looks interesting (in the who has a real clue what happens next sense), although I think not what recent bulls (plural is perhaps overstatement) have been investing for? And now for something completely different ...

buywell seems to be everywhere at the moment. I think he is in the 95% club. i.e he only deramps companies that have lost 95% plus of their values. Thing is though many stocks have risen since he has started posted, hence why his presence is now one of my criteria for investing. Still, he says the chart has not bottomed so we should wait patiently for his call or when he's finished whatever he's up to here.

Loverat - And as for the apparent resignation that such behaviour should go unpunished, I have taken things in the past to the FSA and asked for them to examine some very strange trades, with no result. As a share trader all you can see is where the orders come in at and what the volume is. You don't know who is making the trades, but as someone who has watched volume and share price activity of small caps for many years, you know when something is up and there is a change in the pattern of trades. The FSA has access to who made those trades and which broker placed the orders. And trying to make an example out of Mr Taylor who is a minnow compared to some of the sharks in the City who do this all the time, is pretty paltry. They need to set up a sting and nail the brokers and big city traders, and possibly even send some to jail. The americans have sent several scumbags to jail, but the good old boys of the London Stock Exchange couldn't possibly sanction helping jailing one of their own. Just a little tap on the hand and don't do (get caught) that again is all they ever do.

Loverat - I just saw your post from a couple of days ago. I don't have any evidence of who it was who sold, but it is patently clear to me that someone got wind of the subscription prior to the RNS. The massive increase in volume and large 1 million lot sell orders was not a coincidence. I would even go on to say that it may be the same person who sold previously when there was a placing in September 2011. The same thing happened then with lots of selling and volume just prior to the RNS. If the Financial Conduct Authority are any good they will be able to trace who made the large trades prior to the news, and then see if they took part in the placing and subscription. The small cap market is littered with dodgy trades and share price manipulation. It is not an even playing field and it always ends up with shareholders getting shafted. I notice Matt has moved the registered office to St John Street. At least it's not the bus shelter outside, and they plan on staying in business for another year until the lease is up for renewal. I am still incredibly disappointed as to how pear shaped things have gone with this company, and I would love to know when management knew about this and whether they ever planned on telling shareholders.
