IMHO so called "capitalisation of income method valuation" models such as Dividend Discount Models, eg zero growth and constant growth aka Gordons Growth Model, used in conjunction with other valuation models are a very useful addition to an Investor's armoury to help identify undervalued opportunities and quantify the prerequisite substantial margin of safety.

Sorry england80, have only just seen your message.

You work out the required rate of return for a share which is the "risk free" rate(yield on the 5 UK bond) then add an adjusted "risk premium"RP is the historic excess return of stocks over bonds, I have used 5.5 then to adjust you multiply by the stock beta which is 0.36.To work out the share's intrinsic value using a zero growth dividend discount model you just divide the annual dividend by the required rate of return.

Such is the rarity of bargain issues and far fewer when you have stripped out the net net basket cases and no hopers,I have to say that IMHO there are always obvious choices that can be predicted with a high degree of certainty but I won't post them here but can PM them.
