Sdx currently produces gas at $1 and sells it for $9 to the domestic market that is gas hungry.

It's a very good country to do business and probably the safest in north africa in a very unsafe world.

Re: Morocco, yes it's gas assets/acreage they're looking at there though I'm in the dark on exactly where/what on that one.

Thanks bumpa. I have an interest in Morocco through Sdx and gas is well sought after and very lucrative on the domestic market.

Looking forward to the coming weeks.

Thanks soulsauce, I'm pretty confident it's something in the Baram Basin or Balingian we're going for - I have a family member who is well connected in Malaysian business circles - which is why I'm interested in this in the first place. I don't know whether we'll hear from there or Morocco first though...

Considering Opengs stated policy on involvement in/development of Sarawak upstream oil and gas I suspect we must be looking at a JV with a local indigenous oil co rather than outright development licenses...

Edit: as i understand it, Morocco is still very much in play too.

Google "Baram Basin Sarawak" largely offshore but also onshore covering much of Brunei and with one corner onshore Sarawak.

Interesting, from the March interims statement, I'd missed this...

"In July 2016, we were very pleased to welcome Bolhassan Di to the Board as a non-executive director. Bolhassan brings a wide range of experience, contacts and knowledge to the Company, having served in senior technical and management roles in Shell around the world. He has also served in a number of high-profile roles in Malaysia: as a member of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly, as a Sarawak Assistant Minister and as Chairman of the Miri Port Authority."

Miri - again.

hoping it will be Sarawak we hear on soon, I believe it's the most advanced of options, if indeed the "others" aren't just red herrings. I'd hazard a guess we're looking onshore only, hence the region could be Miri up in the north near the border with Brunei. All just educated guesswork, could be anywhere of course.

Just took a small stake now Wressle is out of the way (for the time being) and looking forward to the following:-

"Upland has been progressing a number of opportunities, both in the UK and overseas, and is pleased to report that good progress has been made. I look forward to updating shareholders in the near future."

Good, quite happy it's been declined, let a few sell out on that and a chance to get a few more lower down...

not sure wressle really matters as UPL have NO liability of any costs if rejected, they walk away.

Main thing is Malaysian assets not UK onshore.

If we're going onshore, then the region of Miri looks to be favourite....

It's no slam dunk this afternoon, as the planning department recommended approval last time too. However, I believe the previous decision was announced by RNS same day, so we'll know by close of play today.

bumpa - agreed. Sarawak is the prize but Wrestle would be nice to have. If it fails do remember that it is a conditional purchase so does not impinge on the BS.

Well, today's the day on Wressle, be interesting to see how it goes either way. But it's Sarawak I'm waiting for.
