06/1/2015 12:30 | While the market elsewhere suffers its crisis of confidence there are some share sectors that are holding firm, of which UNG is a good example.
It is not alone but in the company of ECK and ACM (Mazarin note - we seem to have a very similar taste in shares!) in the cyber-security field, all of which have made recent good advances.
Most of the advancing stocks have a technology bias, whether communications, security, space tech or biotech.
Those I have particularly noted are VEC (mechanical drug delivery as well as formulations), OXB (gene vectors), SRT (AIS applications, marine tracking data delivery and presentation), GLIF (alternative finance platform investments).
I find this a healthy trend (more so as they are interesting companies apart from financial considerations) and basically good for the UK economy. However, I digress.
Suffice it to say that I expect UNG to consolidate its gain for a while before resuming its advance as the published figures are issued in expected support. | boadicea

22/12/2014 10:29 | There they go (the recent news buyers) all selling for a loss...
All the more for those with a modicum of Market savvy and a little patience ;-)

18/12/2014 14:49 | dealit - I think you are right - The market will want to see hard figures before doubling the share price in a short time.
Of course, when I first started investing (in the days before computers and with two week market accounts), 3 months was considered a relatively short time. Now 'short time' appears to mean within a few days! | boadicea
11/12/2014 18:23 | IMHO we want see 10p until result are announced in Marsh/April 2015. | dealit
11/12/2014 09:13 | 10p short term target | red army
11/12/2014 08:59 | Interesting chart. | blueball
08/12/2014 18:29 | Accumulated losses = less tax to pay. Hence the tax refund.

08/12/2014 16:24 | fbb1000 - Re: Your dividend comments.
You are right that they cannot currently pay a dividend which conventionally has to come from the P&L account which is in deficit.
In order to pay a dividend they would need some years of good profit to put it into surplus.
There are ways of shortening the wait if the company clearly becomes capable of supporting a dividend from a combination of both strong profit and positive cash flow. This involves getting a shareholder vote and court sanction to write off accumulated losses against capital and therefore effectively reset the P&L account to zero and render forward profits as distributable.
In the current situation this would be rather unwise (imho) as the balance sheet is not strong, consisting in major part of goodwill and intangibles. Cash flow is also not strong overall as it is necessarily being reinvested, albeit quite successfully, to strengthen the trading position and prospects of the company.
This process may need to continue for some time, calling for patience by investors. However, we are in a promising turnaround situation and such companies can make rapid progress as the product is very scalable.
In due course therefore, ones hopes for a capital reorganisation in preparation for future dividends. I will leave it to others with crystal balls to suggest a possible time-scale | boadicea

I am afraid that whilst your observations may be right you might want to consider selling now because if the signal triggers you will find it very difficult to sell any reasonab;e volume at a resonable price. Its the nature of small caps and market makers as they know you are struggling to get out. | red army
06/12/2014 08:29 | Interesting monthly candlestick developing - currently got a large upper shadow - these large upper shadows usually indicate a reversal - if 6p is broken the candlestick becomes bearish. Note only confirmed at end of month. So everything crossed that bullish momentum can persist for the month.
Not matter what timeframe you're involved with its definitely not boring or lacking adrenaline. If you've sat on a stock for 5 to 10 years to see it become a 1000 bagger is surely as adrenaline fuelled as the scalper earning ticks - it would to be me if I ever achieved it LOL.
And yes I will be out - I live by the axiom "cutting my losses quickly". | fbb1000
05/12/2014 16:28 | I expect a drift back down to 6.5p. | blueball
05/12/2014 15:57 | Agreed David. £ to a penny, 90% of those who invested on the contract disclosure will be bored out within 8 weeks.
This is simply not an adrenaline fuelled stock.

05/12/2014 15:05 | The issue is slowly being sorted and when it is I suspect Universe will be able to pay a pretty healthy dividend. | loganair
05/12/2014 14:18 | hi loganair, I was reading the board and noted that the company can not pay dividends yet as they do not "qualify" to do so - have these issues been sorted? Or is there a timeline which they will be? | fbb1000
05/12/2014 12:46 | One day, hopefully in the not too distant future Universe will recommence paying a dividend then I think we'll very quickly see a share price of 12p to 15p. | loganair
05/12/2014 11:53 | Hi david - I have a question - don't laugh - genuine question - as an long term investor are you primarily invested for dividends? Or do you have a long term share price target which when hit you will exit.
(thanks for putting up the Wexboy link really enjoyed that article and the updated version) | fbb1000
05/12/2014 11:00 | If you buy small caps with wide spreads then it is very likely that a good full service broker will get you a price and size much better than a low price online dealing service.
Once you are in a small cap then the decision is yours as to how long or short term your horizon is ! My own strategy is to find growth companies with good opportunities and good management and stay long term until something changes or I get forced out by a takeover or other liquidity point but that usually means I have done well overall.
If you look at the two or three year chart most investors will be very happy with the performance here. Companies like Universe are not just for Christmas and not attractive to traders ! | davidosh
05/12/2014 08:13 | I have been their myself fbb, the spread on UNG is 13% rather a lot for a Company of this size with 220m share. IMHO well worth holding until the results in April I see no bad news only good be lucky. | dealit
