21/2/2021 10:59 | Kind of feel the same as soul trading about the consolidation issue. The raise issue is all about past history with DB, however, the company is stronger than is has ever been (based on the fact that that wressle does eventually flow oil ) so I don't see DB making that raise. Let's see, only 2.5 weeks to wait. | telbap
21/2/2021 10:59 | Hi soul, my posts do sound quite negative with respect to the consolidation but I am a BIG fan of UJO and I want the company to do very well, I really hope it's a good move and done for the right reasons. Unfortunately I now treat anything DB says with considerable caution as his words have often not been supported by the company's deeds, eg Wressle definitely in October, definitely no placing followed by a placing (twice) and now an RNS that just doesnt ring true. Of course, if the share price ends the year 300% or 400% up, all this will be forgotten very quickly :-) | likeawalrus
21/2/2021 10:55 | soul, there are pros and cons, imo consolidations usually cause temporary weakness, and you can see that already in the price.. it was 0.2, now its 0.16.. It was stated that the company had great liquidity, then weeks later its changed its mind!" "The Directors believe that the existing share capital structure is no longer appropriate, as the high number of shares in issue combined with the relatively low price per share is thought to result in excess volatility, reduced liquidity and a widening in the market bid and ask share price spread in the Company's shares. " The High number of shares, and low shareprice is down to the Company, Isnt that a fact ? However, Companies need cash, and need to place shares. You would hope that at the last placing, it was rumoured they wanted 2.5 million, yet got £7m, so they should be OK for a bit yet, especially with Wressle coming on tap. Looking at the bigger picture, and the wording of the rns, I would think the next placing (unless WN sold) would be to a better class of investor (institutions), done by a better broker ? The No 1 top priority now is surely to demonstrate some actual progress to the market on WN and Wressle | currypasty
21/2/2021 10:38 | I seem to be on a different wavelength to other posters here but I see a consolation here as an asset. It is what I would want to see as a share holder. There were way to many shares in issue and this tidies that up nicely. I note from comments that some allude to a raise but to be fair ujo don’t need a consolidation to achieve that and I don’t believe that is even on the agenda. They are about the strongest they have ever been financially and have a number of high value assets which most junior aim companies can only dream about. So I am happy if people want to sell their shares down here but the logic behind it seems defunked. I took more shares. | soultrading
21/2/2021 10:33 | You can have the biggest oil find ever, but if there are placings ...twice now in which people obviously knew beforehand and ramped the price up while selling millions. There is a distinct lack of trust here, the PI's have been shst on twice now. The pigs have had their nose in the trough and ripped out their profit. Billions of shares and now consolidation. If you believe in the oil finds IMO I would invest through another company. For me its not getting a penny. Of course DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH. | sparusty
21/2/2021 10:07 | Its psychological. That's why consolidation is never a good outcome for existing shareholders. At the moment people own hundreds of millions of shares and it makes them feel they own a big bit of the company. But the reality is that they will own the same amount of the company after valuation as before and the company will still have the same mcap | terminator101

21/2/2021 08:58 | I hear this all the time on these boards "I'm on a free ride" waffle. Yes brilliant that you have traded your way to protecting your original capital and it's something everyone should aim for in small caps. The only thing it helps with is the psychology of dealing with losses. But your "free" money isn't free at all, its still money that you are risking. | terminator101

20/2/2021 19:28 | I doubt WN will be monetised for many months, so my suspicion is that the consolidation is to facilitate a placing within the next 6 months or so, I dont know what DB will want the money for but I simply dont believe the reasons stated in the RNS ("excess volatility, reduced liquidity and a widening in the market bid and ask") | likeawalrus

20/2/2021 18:43 | 🙇♂ Shares of Union Jack Oil PLC (LON: UJO) plunged 6% after the British onshore oil mining company called a shareholders meeting to confirm the consolidation of its current share capital to boost its share price. The company’s board is proposing to issue one share for every 200 shares, which could see its share price surge above 30p if shareholders approve the proposal at the AGM scheduled for March 10, 2021. Markets seemed unimpressed with the proposal given today’s decline, and it remains to be seen if the firm’s shareholders, most of whom are retail investors, will agree with the board to boost the price of their shares. Union Jack has issued several updates this year relating to the West Newton project, which was granted a screening option after applying to expand the West Newton A site. The company also recently acquired an additional 15% stake in the Biscathorpe project from Humber Oil & Gas for £500,000 ($676 775), bringing its stake in the project to 45%. The board argues that its current projects' value is not accurately reflected in the company’s stock price and that consolidation would raise its investment profile, making it more attractive to a wider audience. Investors should monitor the stock as we await the likely consolidation given that the shares are trading near a support level, which could signal a rally if it holds and the price reverses. Union Jack Oil share price. Union Jack Oil shares fell 6.02% to trade at 0.156p, dropping from today’s opening price of 0.166p. | atino

20/2/2021 17:16 | Good post on LSE by ninetails. Reflects my view posted this week that consolidation is never good news for investors. Consolidation or reverse stock split which ever you want to call it would not be good for ujo shareholders untill placings have been completely removed from the table imo, it would just be a license to rinse and repeat and end up slipping back in share price .. Consolidation in Penny Stock... Penny stock companies consolidate their shares more frequently than any other size of investment and historically it has a negative effect for shareholders. Many penny stocks have far too many shares available because of their tendency to continually issue new stock to raise money. One way to quickly reduce the outstanding shares is to consolidate. But this tends to see the share price drop in penny stocks, also leaving the way clear for further dilution. Researchers at the Stern School of Business at NYU and Emory University looked at more than 40 years of data, from 1962 to 2001, and found that of the 1,600 reverse stock splits, shares underperformed their non-split peers by 15.6% in the first year following the split, 36% in the second year and 54% in the third year. From 2001. The Pace of Reverse Stock Splits Has Picked Up in Recent Years. But Are They Good for Investors? The reverse stock split trend continues. Just since the beginning of 2018, my quick count (by no means exhaustive!) came up with 203 reverse stock splits, and 118 in 2017 alone. In fact-with a few rare exceptions-reverse stock splits are bad news for investors. | terminator101
20/2/2021 16:26 | the quoted spread is a red herring... trades never go through at the quoted prices, usually always within the spread. 0.155 - 0.165, were actually going through at 0.158 - 0.163 | currypasty
20/2/2021 15:18 | "the high number of shares in issue combined with the relatively low price per share is thought to result in excess volatility, reduced liquidity and a widening in the market bid and ask share price spread" it will be very interesting to see if a higher share price reduces the spread, current 0.155 / 0.165 equates to 31/33 after consolidation, I would like to see that spread halved. | likeawalrus |
