03/6/2008 20:35 | Good results today and bullish outlook statement. Disappointing reaction, I thought the share price might rise a tad more; there's always tomorrrow. Anyone still following? slev | sleveen
07/10/2007 14:42 | What can be assumed now is that while above the 50 day moving average at 586p and particularly while above the RSI 50 level versus 53 now, one would be calling the shares yet higher. Just how high is being indicated by the February resistance line projection up to 690p | jibba_jabba
09/8/2007 08:45 | how can this share go from 620p to 590p in three minutes. PROFITS WARNING? | miked500
02/8/2007 18:44 | Interesting, I see Hampson Ind (HAMP) also had a late rise - they are in the same line of business. The two companies are often mentioned together in articles covering the sector. Having looked at the Hampson BB, they are suggesting that the increase may be due to the good results from Senior (SNR), their report certainly suggests the Aerospace sector is doing well. I would imagine that the company would have to make some statement tomorrow about the sharp rise. | bartieiw
02/8/2007 17:25 | My guess is either a newspaper/magazine tip tomorrow or a contract/takeover announcement, and I think a contract ir more likely than the newspaper tip. Perhaps we should take bets ? | initiate
02/8/2007 17:09 | Well, that 15.7% spike in just the last 50minutes is suspicious | abcd1234
02/8/2007 17:07 | what is with the sudden rise? I'm aware of the above article.. but is there expectation for tomorrow AM? and why ! | shoman
02/8/2007 16:41 | Sold mine yesterday!! looks like a bid on the way. Never mind , can't win them all. Just want Tesco to pull out of the Dobbie battle and it will break my week!! | linhur
02/8/2007 16:34 | It was tipped by Midas a week ago - maybe some news on the way ? | initiate
02/8/2007 16:33 | stunning run up to close... looks like we may be in for some good news ;O)) | abcd1234
02/8/2007 16:27 | I was wondering the same myself - looks like you got lucky ? What made you buy them in the first place ? | initiate
02/8/2007 16:12 | And now up 49.5 or 8.6%. | prospector
02/8/2007 15:59 | Bought in last week and it's up 35 or 6.1% today. Anyone know why? (Not that I'm complaining or anything ...) | prospector
20/6/2007 12:46 | chart and fundies look good for UMC at the moment. HH | huwrayhenry
01/11/2006 08:21 | I'm with the consensus here. These results are disapponting. DSespite management citing a 'strong' fist half... 1 Components-Underlyin 'On an underlying basis, operating profits fell by 9 per cent, primarily due to the effects of delays in defence spending.' and 'Trading at Abscoa and TLC, Umeco Components' US trading businesses, was impacted by delays in US defence spending. These delays are now beginning to unwind. The effects of recently approved tranches of US Government defence spending are expected to contribute towards a rise in profitability during the second half of the financial year.' If that is the case, than there is plenty of pent-up demand and UMC should hasve a stellar second half. They need it, to make up for the weak H1. I'm not sure I buy this argument. 2 Composites did fine, and should secure future strong growth, but there was some margin slippage here too. 3 Margin slippage at Repair & Overhaul 4 Talk of acquisitions even though they generated cash outflows in H1 and net debt rose to 46m. More fund raising? I'm skeptical that they are chasing acquisition led growth and not focusing on operational issues within existing business. They have a lot to prove in H2, and I for one, am not waiting around for them to do it. I sold. | shuisky
31/10/2006 12:10 | Yep - spot on - Im out also. Could have gone either way - that was the gamble. There will be an opportunity to get back into this one - but only when the indicators are positive. Am sure there is a few quid in this one - Watchlist til then. I | informer
31/10/2006 08:06 | oh well...not quite what I was hoping for, so I have sold first thing. corporate action in the future perhaps? good company but not for me at present. | tillman
24/10/2006 10:08 | Timing is everything - Is it time ?? With Interims due a week today this is surely a punt right now - it all appears a gamble on the face of it from both a fundemental and chart perspective. Still in a down trend and breach of 470 failed - surely needs positive report on 31st to bring this kiddie back to life then return to the 500's should be on the cards. Hope you got it right guys - are we traders, gamblers or investors ?? Im in for a punt !! | informer |
