sp due a bounce, fedex almost 25% rise in quarterly profit

edit, ouch, trading statement does'nt seem to justify this fall
directors should buy in at this level, or maybe trading statement is more
negative than it should be in the light of tesco debacle
adding a few if it drops, as NGrid one to invest long term, not trade short term
parcel deliveries will keep growing, seasonal is not the right word, there will
be above average months/periods and vis versa,
more irrational pessimism, on qe withdrawel, poss, rate rises, has hit most shares
nai,dyor
edit del la rue 30% down, might pay to play safe & cash in on other co's before
updates/results, if sp's are being unjustly trashed,

punters could consider switching from royal mail to ukm

an employee of our local council said if they went private
they would be bankrupt within a month, how long will it take
RM to become super efficient 3yrs?

22/5 Royal Mail takes a hit today no surprise, even allowing for divi
still think it will take a few yrs to sort

UKM could at least throw their weight behind objections to HS2
to stop compulsory purchase of their B'ham depot

From the times:

Wednesday's halfway figures from UK Mail revealed average daily volumes at its parcels business, which accounts for 43 per cent of revenues, up by 25 per cent. In turn that drove a 67 per cent rise in operating profits in like-for-like terms. Meanwhile, the mail business was up a bit and gained further market share. Furthermore, the company stands to gain from the privatisation of Royal Mail, for whom it delivers parcels the "final mile" to the customer's door. If Royal Mail gets its act together and brings in the efficiencies expected, it can cut prices and these can be passed on to UKMail's clients. Nevertheless, if  Royal Mail improves sufficiently in the longer term, it might become a more serious competitor again. Just don't expect this to happen soon. The shares have come a long way this year and sell on almost 20 times' earnings. High enough for now, one suspects, says The Times's Tempus.

Good set of numbers, if the management can keep up the pace of transformation then the money should keep rolling in.

Very nice results, certainly up to £6.60 in the coming days I hope. Today may be a tad optimistic.

your bank statements go astray, who is going to pick up this business

17/10 tabloids today RMG workers vote for strike, after receiving 500ml worth of shares

Sell off volume is tiny. Doesn't change the fundamentals of a business with decent prospects, operations and delivering a good yield. I think the privatisation and strike rattled a few people. It actually makes the case for a more diverse mail sector.

I'm wondering if the threatened strike by the CWU has triggered the sell off here.

It's not particularly liquid - I suspect some people are taking profits to reinvest in Royal Mail. I added a few at 540p this am.

The uk parcel business could learn alot from the etailers themselves such as Orcado and Amazon. Lots of computer automation operating the parcel handling process, well paid skilled staff to increase throughput via optimizing the equipment. Continuous improvement is a way of life !
