21/11/2013 10:25 | From the times: Wednesday's halfway figures from UK Mail revealed average daily volumes at its parcels business, which accounts for 43 per cent of revenues, up by 25 per cent. In turn that drove a 67 per cent rise in operating profits in like-for-like terms. Meanwhile, the mail business was up a bit and gained further market share. Furthermore, the company stands to gain from the privatisation of Royal Mail, for whom it delivers parcels the "final mile" to the customer's door. If Royal Mail gets its act together and brings in the efficiencies expected, it can cut prices and these can be passed on to UKMail's clients. Nevertheless, if Royal Mail improves sufficiently in the longer term, it might become a more serious competitor again. Just don't expect this to happen soon. The shares have come a long way this year and sell on almost 20 times' earnings. High enough for now, one suspects, says The Times's Tempus. | ryandj2222
20/11/2013 13:13 | Good set of numbers, if the management can keep up the pace of transformation then the money should keep rolling in. | spacecake

14/9/2013 11:16 | Sell off volume is tiny. Doesn't change the fundamentals of a business with decent prospects, operations and delivering a good yield. I think the privatisation and strike rattled a few people. It actually makes the case for a more diverse mail sector. | engineer66
13/9/2013 14:33 | I'm wondering if the threatened strike by the CWU has triggered the sell off here. | spacecake

08/7/2013 11:45 | The uk parcel business could learn alot from the etailers themselves such as Orcado and Amazon.
