22/5/2013 16:23 | Good update today and lots to look forward to if they can pull it off. "We continue to invest in our business, maintaining our focus on innovation, efficiency and high service levels. Alongside this, we have today announced major plans for significantly increased automation across our network. These plans will be a key factor in driving further volume growth and margin enhancement for the Group. We thus remain confident we will continue to make good progress in the current year and beyond." CURRENT TRADING & OUTLOOK Trading in the initial weeks of the year has continued the recent trend, with further good growth in parcels volumes. | spacecake

03/5/2013 16:11 | I may be wrong but are they expecting more from the depot staff due to increased volume and not rewarding them for it? good old Guy does well at the top of the tree while the real workers are told they are lucky to have a job. I am not condoning the actions shown the other night but people on low salaries will take something if they think its ok to do so in most cases. If they deliver at such a cheap price something has to give and its normally basic staff wages. | tuftymatt
29/4/2013 22:42 | Dispatches does UKM big favour by exposing the poor management systems and lack of supervision, the directorate need to retrain the managers as they clearly don't understand what is expected of them, find the root cause if its a process system failure. I see it as a glitch - an opportunity for the workers and owners to fix whats wrong. | spacecake
29/4/2013 21:20 | channel 4 dispatches bosses need to go undercover asap what is damaging is the feature film is retained online pretty shocking, will take a long time to get customers trust again its no good saying a FEW parcels get damaged out of millions sent almost an arrogance in replying to reporters questions a gift to Royal Mail before they go private, and sold off to China? nai | mike24
09/4/2013 07:58 | ANOTHER good update... making progress in difficult market.. still loads to do !! "Our Parcels business continued to deliver a strong performance, with volumes for the quarter increasing by some 20% compared to the same period last year. This volume growth was largely driven by an increase in home deliveries related to online shopping, which resulted in a continuation of the mix change towards B2C that we have previously seen." Loads more to come from this segment of the business IMHO - online shopping via Ebay and Amazon and others could be a huge money spinner if UKM can keep the momentum going. If they can't make any money on other segments they should consider selling them off and concentrate on what they are good at. DYOR ... etc I see IC covered these a few weeks ago. | spacecake
08/1/2013 07:48 | At last the news is good. Lots of business to be won off the back of ebay parcels. Good Christmas trading. | spacecake
05/12/2012 10:42 | From today's Telegraph. "Royal Mail staff in delivery threat. Royal Mail workers are threatening to refuse to deliver post sent via any business other than Royal Mail. The Communications Workers Union (CWU) made the threat because of "unfair" competition, which it argued had led to job losses, price rises and fewer services." This could make it difficult for UK Mail if the threat is carried out. AO | a0148009

08/8/2012 12:33 | I wonder if this new director can inspire some of the existing directors to better support change, IT innovation and operational excellence. They have a great opportunity with supporting eBAY customers and I hope they don't blow it! | spacecake
08/8/2012 11:26 | tuftymatt - Not asurprise you would say that. You are always negative on UK Mail. I would have thought DX being much smaller than UK Mail would not be as attractive. | she-ra
08/8/2012 09:43 | I don't think so. Someone like DX would be a better bet IMHO. | tuftymatt
07/8/2012 16:33 | If one of the big players apart from TNT wants to get into mail is UK Mail an acquisition target due to its dominant position? And would its direct marketing mail business although in its infancy be another attraction for one of the big players? | she-ra
07/8/2012 13:06 | It's still creeping up and the volume is up again - hit bottom ? | spacecake
02/8/2012 08:23 | Stay on the sidelines I think Spacecake. Lets see how RTO looks tomorrow, especially the City Link element. | tuftymatt
