IMHO P/E ratio is fairly cheap for an expanding company with good market share such as this.

The share split has certainly helped marketability too.

UDG is a pharmaceutical company listed on both the ISEQ and the LSE. It is NOT a growth share as such, however it is an EXCELLENT widows and orphan share. It would do wonders for any long-term portfolio. Granted - the dividend is nothing to write home about but the share performance more than makes up for this.

Acquisitions ( other acquisitions can be found on the UDG website through the link above ):

Excellent UDG Summary :

If anyone reads this, my advice is to buy UDG for a long-term hold.

Why - well because it has just less then 50% of the drug market in Ireland. UDG is also active in the UK. The share split has helped liquidity which has increased the price nicely.

But best of all - the Irish saving scheme SSIA's will mature in two years. There will be a lot of extra money but allocated to each person there won't be enough for a house deposit so, according to a recent newspaper article, most money will end up in the stock market.

This week should see UDG hit another high. DYOR. 8-)

Anyone out there still holding ??

Think this is a great company myself - especially since the split.
These are definitly a long-term holding - not exciting but very rewarding. Decent year upon year growth, lovely indeed.
The strategy: buy and hold

Glad I'm not alone.
Two other directors also bought a reasoable qty. in last two weeks.
I think it was 2.3 million euros the boss spent.Don't know if he got them in the market or took them off an institution-I don't think the market could produce 1 million as they are not traded in any great quantity(the spread's large too).

Looking at them - a Director buying £2.3million rather catches the eye does it not?

I would not sell these at all. Most of the directors have loaded up big time. Also they are in a growing market, which makes a pleasant change.I would also add that they are a prime candidate for a takeover-why it has not come yet I don't know. They are small fish (very) compared with GEHE & Alliance Unichem & will get mopped up sometime, but we could be looking at a few years.
Do not sell these unless you need the money-they are a long term holding to lock away until pay day.
But don't worry if they don't fall to a bidder because profits are heading up and up every year unless something very drastic happens.

I'd sell if I were you as this share is boring and hardly traded. Good results but not good enough to move north by much a usual.

Great result from UDG this morning but their price has dropped at start of trading. The market seems to react in some strange ways sometimes! Anyone like to comment on why this is happening?
