European stocks set for strong open as earnings power global markets higher

Key Points

The S&P 500 jumped nearly 2% on Thursday for its best day since March, driven by stronger-than-expected earnings from heavyweights Bank of America, Morgan Stanley and Citigroup.

Rio Tinto, Redrow and Schroders were among those reporting earnings on Friday.

LONDON — European stocks are set for a positive open on Friday as corporate earnings drive global markets higher to close out the week.

Britain’s FTSE 100 is seen around 34 points higher at 7,242, Germany’s DAX is set to add around 62 points to 15,525 and France’s CAC 40 is expected to gain around 33 points to 6,718, according to IG data.

Kosmos webcast available here covers most of our concerns with Q/A

Kosmos Tullow and GNPC aligned and Kosmos no desire to become Operator.

thx for the link. interesting slides. I would have hoped for more colour on TEN. really jubilee focused. we all know why. Tullow would be dump not to use the preemption rights.. but who knows. everything is possible.the slide about opex expected to fall to around 5$\bbl in 2023 ist ridiculous. deploying a 2nd rig got far more realistic now with oxy leaving.

After listening to the conference call this afternoon it is obvious that Kosmos has played a blinder. Could not help but chuckle as Mark Wilson from Jeffries suddenly realised that Ryder Scott have higher reserve numbers in for the same assets. They also feel there is no material tax issue to disclose with Ghanaian tax authorities. The penny is finally dropping as Kosmos admitted production would exit the year at 85k gross at Jubilee and reach 100kbpd as additional wells are drilled. Also sounded upbeat about Ten and the need to contract a second rig to drill out the prospects there.

I finally feel vindicated . Dorothy has much to answer for !

I hope subsurface doesnt mind if I post his answer from IR tullow from end september now as it helps quite a bit in understanding. xxnjr, who else but tullow should have this pre emption rights? besides kosmos itself and gnpc who both aquired this oxy stake that wont recall about loosing this pre emption stakes if exercised if they would be their own.... there is only a minor other partner with around 3-5% working interest, I think it's petronas that cant be having them in such a big amount, so assuming it's tullows just makes sense?now the answer to ss from IR :Thank you for your email. We have pre-emption rights on the Deepwater Tano block in Ghana.Tullow interests in both the Deepwater Tano and West Cape Three Points blocks can be found in our licence list here:https://www.tullowoil.com/application/files/6716/2816/3626/Tullow_Oil_plc_Licence_Interests_July_2021_v2.pdfas it's the deep water tano block where they had 50% interest in and that formed a bigger part of TEN and a smaller part of the jubilee unitisation it fits perfect into the numbers that 8% of 11% interest in der TEN and only 3,8% of the 18% jubilee stake is pre emptional :)

Hello I'm not at home and just seen the news. Not sure if been mentioned but GNPC are picking up a chunk as well. Good news as Gov.gh aligned with TLW and less likely to damage their own investment and maybe easier to find solution on gas?

"October 13, 2021 – Occidental (NYSE:OXY) today announced it has agreed to sell its interests in two Ghana offshore fields for $750 million to Kosmos Energy ($550 million) and Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) ($200 million), prior to closing adjustments to reflect an April 1, 2021 effective date. The sale to Kosmos closed upon signing and the sale to GNPC is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2021."

Pre-deal %'s here

I don't understand the pre-emtpion %'s as usually TLW would hold a right to all of oxy's stake if they had rights?
