It makes no sense I know but they do "sort each other out" if they can... Looks to me like we are entering a bull cycle for oil. Most intis will need to load up on oil stocks and will want to get as many as they can near the bottom. The OP moving so quick has caught them out....

The degree to which some have been caught is magnified as here we also have large short positions to unwind, so to go long, they would in effect to "double buy"..

Now on good friends the banks would much rather try and shaft me and you than their mates so they will try every trick in the book to hold this down while they build or unwind their own positions.

The problem they have is events are unravelling fast, in particular the oil price...

A straight answer to your question is "i dont know" but this is a big cap stock, so weeks not days....

I personally thing they have run out of time though... My advice is fill your boots and make it as difficult for them as possible....

gregpeck7,

How long do you think the pivot will take?

Have to admit it doesn't make sense as if it was happening surely institutions etc would be piling in at a cheaper price?

Mcaean. It's amazing the lengths the city will go to for their mates. That's what's going on. They are trying to pivot from short to long. That needs a lot of manipulation.

Disappointed we're not over 200p, obviously overly optimistic at 210p.

A bad ruling could have been catastrophic, I guess it's back to watch the oilprice..... API tomorrow/ EIA Wednesday.

Hou hum, back to work.

oil chart in a good place.

Think golden crosses are going to trigger on the Tullow chart as oil moves up.

Only due another $100m from farmout of Uganda on FID expected 2nd half of year.

No divi unless script as debt still above target 2.5 EBITAX. I project net debt to be $3.7b in 8/11/2017 interims.

30% interest in wildcat well Suriname Q4...Target 500mmbo.

Still holding 50% of billion barrel field in Kenya.

Nearly $7 difference between WTI and Brent. That's got to tighten soon. I'm expecting sentiment in the sector to change soon.

If not a takeover maybe Tullow could start paying a dividend again, next trading update November 8, I'm holding out, plenty more upside here I reckon

The 9% short positions are very comforting. They are the fuel for the fire. Nice bowl on the chart back to 300p+. Hold and relax.

L2 is fascinating.. Clearly trying to enable an orderly exit for the shorts.. I cannot see it working though.. Could really pop at anytime now...

Some profit taking from those that gambled on the decision (as I said it did look like a slam dunk)..

Once they are out stock should be much tighter than before.....

It's not quite all 'cash'. Couple of milestones to meet and $700m is ring fenced for the JV development costs.

$200 million in cash consisting of $100 million on completion of the transaction and $50 million at both Final Investment Decision and First Oil.

$700 million in deferred consideration which will be used by Tullow to fund the company’s share of the costs of the upstream development project and the associated export pipeline project.
