So why have ii basically increased their shorts, now 15%, except Lansdowne- who were in profit on their short from way higher, reducing substantially?

Made nice little sum on this the other day- sold out- just bought a very few back at 230p today.

Have to say I`m confused by shorting action...

If I have lent my stock to Landsdowne I either want the benefits of the rights or on return an extra 25 shares for every 49 I lent them

mccracken227: They wouldn't pay the 1.30, as that is what is being generated through the rights issue. They would pay the difference between the nil paids price.

Any one have a theory on this.. if nil paids are being bought for 1.03 i presume they would have to then pay 1.30 so value then 2.33 ? or have i got it all wrong. Tia

Interesting that Lansdowne Partners are now down to 1.64% (short). They haven't been that low since the beginning of 2013 - and only 2 weeks ago were still at 2.69%.

Yes, but what if nil paid shorts have been called in? I was unable to open a new short on the nil paids through IG, but then they're tight on these things.
