Oilslim,

Hope Nanok gets his 10% when the electioneering starts later in the year but in the meantime this made me smile...perhaps it should not have....

"By calling Governor Josephat Nanok stupid and silly, among other unprintables, the head of state distinguished himself as a man devoid of decorum"

Interesting on the frack article too.

The following could partly explain that?
(If not, interesting anyway as it shows what is still 'kept behind' in the US)

Here are timings from a texas minnow trying to get some attention from the oil service sector and demonstrates how stretched the US oil sector is:

TD (Total depth) reached on 26th Jan 2017

Its now nearly 2 months later and the following rns the other day:

"Pantheon advises that preparation works for the commencement of flow testing operations on the VOBM#2H and VOBM#4 wells have taken considerably longer than expected, however it is anticipated that flow testing operations should commence on both wells within the next fortnight. The Company will announce the results of each flow test individually upon the completion of each respective flow testing operation"

Baker Hughes tomorrow ...last week 789 rigs in US

mariopeter,

CoÍncidence? This just popped up:

A local voice adressing local concerns.

Sadly, there is more: I doubt anybody has an idea how much bad luck the relation between Kenyatta and Good Luck Jonatan will bring on Turkana. (Indirectly, but it has to be fed from somewhere)

Anyway, enough from me on the subject. GL

I am a long term investor in both (having done better in RPC certainly)

As an investor I follow my my money and take up my rights
I bought a few k more of TLW at below £2 - money for old rope with the rights to come

Have a good weekend

Phillis, you seem to like the idea of taking up rights in TLW. Do you think they are a better buy than the rights in RPC?

Phillis, I just knew that would bait you!

Yes, if you hold shares in certificated form (I doubt many here do) then you will probably receive a provisional allotment notification, even if you sell between record date and ex-date. I doubt you'd receive the notification until after the ex-date though. If you have sold before ex date you should pass the notification on to your broker/buyer. If you hold in nominee form some brokers are so slack they won't manage to allocate you with your nil paids on ex-date.

So whats going to happen to the share price once they go ex-rights?

In the absence of good news, it will fall. That's assuming it's not already at or below 130p (which I doubt it will be).

You won't receive notification until they go ex-rights, which is 6th April. After all, you might sell between now and then and therefore not qualify.

Anyone know how we take up the rights, will we get a letter?

The latest time for acceptance by Qualifying Shareholders under the Rights Issue will be 11.00 a.m. on 24 April 2017?

Bought some more at 200p, having good success with (HER), so added here, also own more at 250p, holding for 2-5 years so not that bothered about the rights issue.

I think the ethics of Tullow management is unquestionable but it maybe the Government of Kenya that needs a review.

Hmm, I actually picked tullow as it seemed one of the note ethical oil companies and if I recall operated some kind of educational projects.

Thanks Oileslim. I appreciate your time this am.

The government of Kenya will end up with probably a 50% share of the field and local corporation tax on the other 50% too. Hope the government manage to sort out their local politics and glad to see reference to elections in your post.I hope they are proper elections and if not, that they become better over time.

If you were that chap with the cattle you might vote for a government that will spread the wealth and resolve the land disputes but I am not sure you would want damage done to the goose who lays the golden eggs but nonetheless, we, as investors must price in some risk there especially if there is history of a goose (Bowleven) being damaged. As investors in the goose, we can only show them a wheel that was invented before but cannot get involved in the manufacture of their own specific wheel which ought to be better than those before.(This entire paragraph is all theory only I know but it must prevail.)

From a humane perspective we should sincerely hope some rains come to the country and proceeds from the oil are used wisely to improve quality of life.

Thanks again for your time and information and will, as a result of your post, keep an ear on the World Service for matters Kenya related.

Mercer, the company has been strapped for cash for a long time. With the additional monies, they can pay down debt and save millions in interest payment. That shadow will be lifted and leave tullow a little bit better placed to weather low price oil and the turret issues.

Some right's issues happen to fund acquisitions which in turn can deliver long term value. I'm not convinced that this is the rationale here though.
