People keep rumbling on about signings as if you have to sign half a team of journeymen like pool to compete , not so if you already have class players .

Giggsy and Scholes have been written off by some , but are still absolutely top class and have started the season in brilliant form . Both have a couple of seasons left at the top .

Snowman, totally agree.Nothing wrong with the team at OT.

Benny has spent £40M + in one year so we will have no pretence he is working on a shoestring .

Snowman:

"Taking Walcott to Germany is a disgrace!"

Would you like to point me to that post as i dont recall writing that ??

If you keep making things up i will do the same ;-)

As for Walcott . No one has seen him play as he has never performed at the top level .
Taking him to the World Cup is completely daft .

If he was as good as mentioned at this point Whinger would have played him in games when he had injuries or was resting players . At one point players like Persie , Bergkamp were not available but no sighting of Walcott .

In other words in high pressure games Whinger would not play him , but supposedly he can perform at the WC .

Daft and desperate .

Whats this Walcott cobblers then ???

The idea that a kid who has not played in the PL should go to the WC is the most stupid thing to come to light recently .

Lennon i would take , but even that is risky .

Walcott going is bloody stupid .

Its a daft decision however it goes .

Makes no sense , listen to footy professionals , hardly any can understand it .

Whats going to happen , if you look at the amount of midfielders , is we are going to play 5 across the middle .

Walcott if he gets a look in will be as a late sub , probably in desperate times !

Lennon is probably slightly similar to Walcott , but he has proved himself at the top level . Theres the difference .

abix47 - 8 May'06 - 22:29 - 56193 of 56194

Have you seen him play?

I haven't but unless he's very special it is a bit strange.

Perhaps he is?

Snowmann - 8 May'06 - 22:44 - 56194 of 56194 edit

Its not about whether he is a top `prospect` .

He may well be .

But until he plays in the PL no one knows if he is top class .

You watch reserve footy so you know there is a massive gap .

I hope he is another Pele in this WC but i doubt it .

ps - Whinger is not even putting Walcott in his CL 18 for the Final ???

WC ??

LOL!

Win/win there then abix. If he does indeed do nothing, you'll just let the thread sink quietly. ;-)

Don't think it's that bad myself. England has an absolute wealth of midfield talent and bog all (healthy) available up front. If that doesn't say "4-5-1" (or variant) then I don't know what does. And what might be useful in such a situation? Bench strikers who can come on late if things haven't gone to plan. A fresh lightning fast striker coming on late should either a) get chances, assuming he's not a total muppet positionally so can break the offside trap, or more likely b) push the defence back. If you do push the defence back, there's a lumbering 6 7 giant who, whilst not all that great in the air, is still 6 foot bloody 7, a couple of extremely good crossers to lob the ball into him, plus if that doesn't work, excellent long shooters and free kick specialists who could punish you for standing off them.

Pity about his predictions though.
