15/9/2004 18:14 | yeh....looks like a bit of levelling after the AGM, just waiting for the bounce off the support line now!!! | bedlamsbottom
15/9/2004 12:13 | Why help him...lol...he's watching this like a hawk anyway...in case his profits further erode..all very unpleasant, but not at our expense at least...so far, so good today... | scotswhaehae
14/9/2004 18:51 | mtg, check out yahoo, is that what you was looking for? Number of brokers recommending as: -------------------- Strong Buy 3 Moderate Buy 4 Hold 1 Moderate Sell 0 Strong Sell 0 | bedlamsbottom
14/9/2004 13:21 | mr mt glass also (not very cleverly) failed to point out in his italics section the really interesting (positive) news....now thats a surprise...lol...whi mercury: further progress has been made over the summer....and....fur This is the REAL news..the rest is old hat, already hugely oversold (by people like mr glass) in the share price. but then what would u expect from his like... | scotswhaehae
14/9/2004 12:57 | Well mr mt glass, the new thread was started by me to get a proper set of charts available...I see u haven't changed your arrogant ways...and I've recently made another 70p on Rathbone's where u were similarly arrogant and sarcastic to me a while back. Reading ur words, I take it u have been losing here recently...lol...bes | scotswhaehae
14/9/2004 12:22 | Yep. Yesterday's bounce ahead of this agm forced me to cover part of my ongoing downbet (I already banked the main gain before the weekend as reported elsewhere). If today's backsliding continues, I'll stay short. But if that 157.5p floor holds up, I'll quit for now. If it gives way I'll step up my stake again. When someone who favours a stock unnecessarily starts a new thread, it usually indicates that they are losing the argument on the old thread and have found it embarrassing. But even with my most hostile glasses on I can't actually add to the negative observations mentioned by followers above, and these few lines very selectively picked out from the statement: .. Our teacher training businesses are still experiencing very difficult market conditions. We do not expect this situation to improve in the short term... ...The performance of our asset management business continues to be disappointing... ...Overall the market for recruitment advertising is holding up well, albeit with some weakness seen in the health sector.... ..There is however increasing competition and some pressure on fee rates... People don't usually need much of a reason to sell - dullness alone will do. They do need good reasons to buy, and today's statement doesn't do that - it more or less says 'come back and look at us in 6 months time when we hope to be better sorted'. So I agree with Ashmok's comment above about the price perhaps drifting. Unless there is some analyst out there who actually gets excited enough to tip it as a buy, I guess some disappointed holders will choose to move their money somewhere more promising for the timebeing. mtg PS: I have been long on this stock at times, and may be again sometime. But it isn't on my buy lists today. | m.t.glass
14/9/2004 11:10 | Sure, lots of bad news is (unnecessarily I think) priced in already, so if you hold now then I'm sure you'll be rewarded eventually. But if they're saying we need the full year results to get the big picture, then I'd expect more price drifting before then. | ashmok
14/9/2004 10:31 | The key points are that the 'dull' news is already hugely in the price while the 'mercury' news is actually positive....so in my view the clever money will keep buying...! | scotswhaehae
14/9/2004 09:36 | Oops, had forgotten about the AGM! Statement suggests first half of year isn't going to be spectacular, & Mercury Health announcements don't seem to be imminent, so it looks like we'll be waiting a while before there are major price moves. | ashmok
13/9/2004 18:46 | possibly better (contract) news on the way - but, just as likely, simply heavily oversold...if indeed there is positive contract news then my 260p target would be very conservative... | scotswhaehae
13/9/2004 15:59 | Hmm, big move in one day. A tip, news due soon, or has this just been on everyone's watch list & it was due a bounce? | ashmok
13/9/2004 14:06 | Nice performance today ...just look at the chart for an indication of upside...to at least 260p in my view... | scotswhaehae
13/9/2004 09:09 | TRB is ready for a lovely bounce from these absurdly low levels... | scotswhaehae
02/9/2004 14:00 | First nudge up for a while...lets all (except mr mt glass) hope for a sustained recovery after a nonsense price fall. | scotswhaehae
31/8/2004 10:46 | Yep; My way ;o) (still short) | m.t.glass
10/8/2004 14:08 | Any ideas where this is going: | agincourt
06/8/2004 14:36 | Tough one to call gran. its a matter of judging when the mercury contract news will come in. Having said that it will take some very special numbers to get this back to previous levels | stokepa
06/8/2004 12:20 | Can't bear this torture. I've sold up for now. Is this one doomed to keep falling? | gran
22/7/2004 07:23 | Ouch, so much for a floor in the price... Oh well, roll on with some news about the Mercury deal, and maybe that will help. | ashmok
30/6/2004 14:04 | Have been tracking this but am still unsure when / if to get in. Seems to be weak even after results which did not seem too bad. Anyone any ideas. Thanks | martinsim
23/6/2004 13:40 | 280p plus would be a much more sensible price ... | scotswhaehae
23/6/2004 13:37 | But holding up well while the brokers get their reiterated add/buy /overwight recommendations out (this has started to happen)....don't forget- much of the duller news was already factored in- and these shares remain outstandingly cheap...I expect good upward progress from here. | scotswhaehae
23/6/2004 09:00 | that would be me ashmock. They really need to start turning preffered bidder status into solid contracts far more quickly if we are to see a good return | stokepa
22/6/2004 07:24 | So much for my markup! Whoever said earlier that the results wouldn't be enough, well done. Edit: looking at the figures again, it's the £3 million of exceptionals this year that's done the damage (the lost Mercury contract, & costs for the next one), & tipped them into a loss. I guess forseeing another £2.3 million next year also adds to the uncertainty. So it looks like we go nowhere much until the Mercury contract is announced, & medium term price will be strongly affected by that. | ashmok
22/6/2004 06:38 | Off out soon so no time for a detailed read of the results, but they look reasonable to me: higher turnover, operating profit, EPS 10% up, divi increase (still small, but at least they're offering one now). Debt is higher, but manageable, & there are also more debtors for some reason. Mercury contract news looks interesting, although the costs are escalating -- failing to get this one will mean another share price hit, although (I'd hope) nothing like last time. Still, fundamentally I think this looks fine. We might get a small mark up at market open, then either we get some new buyers, reassured by the results, or (if this doesn't happen) folks who've bought in lower down might sell & take a small profit. This isn't the most exciting share, normally, so my guess would be no big movement in any direction, but an upward trend for the rest of the year, boosted by contract & aquisition news as it happens. | ashmok |
