I went to the AGM and had a chat with Nick Burrows afterwards. I asked him about Brexit and I got the impression the effect was broadly neutral so I expect trading to be steady rather than a bumper year. I also think the board took on the point that the dividend could be raised without being imprudent so I think we might be able to expect some good news on that front. I think the person that must have voted everything down was Mr Charlton but he didn't express any particular beef publically at the meeting.

Two more months to half year results .All eyes on how that cash balance increases and how the order book is keeping up .Looking at the last interims profit was up 221 percent ! A moderate rise would do me !Sicknote

Thanks for the comment on dividends from the AGM jane deer. Are you able to give us a summary of any other interesting discussion points from the AGM? Was there a presentation and/or Q&A session with the directors or an opportunity to chat afterwards?

...did they seem to imply that the order books are currently full and this will be a bumper year? I mean, when you're talking "cash pile" one assumes (I guess) that they think this year will add to it significantly. Is that the impression you got?

Am happy they don't want to borrow !Look at all those retailers saddled with debt that could get through tough trading conditions !Premier oil diluted 50 percent by bond holders !!!Am acquisition based on cash would enhance the eps further .Sicknote

Were buybacks discussed? They can always hold them in treasury and re-issue to the market or issue to a vendor if they need them for a takeover. Manager/owners of the type of business they would maybe want to acquire would usually want to take some equity to defer tax and take part in the upside of the enlarged group anyway. Also, any idea who the 16% (of the 48% of shares that were voted) that voted against every resolution was? Looks like a fairly disgruntled shareholder to vote against everything.

I was at the AGM. There were questions about the low dividend. Dr Rigg seemed to have some sympathy to the question. The reasons he gave for not handing over a bigger slice of the profits was that (i) the ecomomy and the world are very uncertain, and (ii) if Triad came across an acquisition it wanted to do, it would be useful to have the cash in hand to do it - he seemed allergic to being dependent on banks etc to fund an acquisition. Not that I read from this that an acquisition is at all likely in the near future.

I hope to point out to them that the dividend is too low given current earnings and that 3 or 4p is easily affordable and would probably give a boost to the daft share price. If not while the shares a seemingly so cheap they could spend some cash buying back shares which would also deliver some real value to us.

Thanks Arthur. I'm sure most PI shareholders can find a better home for some of that cash than a zero interest bank account! SJ

It looks like I will be able to make the AGM and if I do I will ask them what their plans are for that large cash balance.
