ramridge,

£400k may be close to the order value for the hardware. (I would suspect a bigger discount though).

Supplying the hardware would account for the up front nature of the revenue.

The beauty of the business model though is the monthly fees for use of the software, consultancy, training, upgrades etc. I dont know what the company charge per month per user but if you said £10 (or £14500 per month) I wouldnt be surprised.

The hardware is (almost) a one off cost for the customer, but the recurring income gives much financial stability to the company.

OK. I phoned them up and the answer is approx. £350 per unit at single unit retail cost. So assume a 20% volume discount, the value of the order is around £400K.

Does anyone knows what that translates into in revenue terms? roughly...

Downton will purchase the UK manufactured T8 mini, alongside the Trakm8 branded SWIFT 6 web portal, and Trakm8 Secure. The contract is for 1,450 units for an initial period of 5 years. Trakm8 s.r.o. sign deal with Logitrans CZ
August 20th, 2014

Trakm8, the AIM-listed designer, developer and manufacturer of GPRS based hardware and software for the vehicle placement and security market, have announced they have signed a two year contract with Czech Logistic Service provider, Logitrans s.r.o. for the provision of their T8 tracking units, with SWIFT web portal and ecoN driving solution.

Trakm8's ecoN fuel saving solution offers real time in-cab feedback to drivers on their driving style, and reports on key areas where a smoother driving style can be promoted. The Trakm8 SWIFT web portal includes many data rich features and advanced mapping to help Logitrans s.r.o improve their operational efficiencies and fleet safety. Many Fleet Management tools on the market use telematics to report on driving behaviour but very few offer real time feedback and that is why Logitrans s.r.o have chosen Trakm8's reliable ecoN solution providing the most effective fuel saving results through a driver feedback display. From improving the drivers behaviour Logitrans s.r.o will also benefit from a safer fleet.

John Watkins, Executive Chairman of the Trakm8 Group comments: "We are delighted to welcome Logitrans as a new customer of Trakm8's. Historically we have been a United Kingdom based company, but Trakm8 have invested heavily in their overseas operation, and welcoming new customers on board such as Logitrans CZ give us confidence that our hard work is paying off. We hope to develop a strong working partnership with Logitrans over the coming months, and trust they will find our fuel saving and vehicle tracking solution incredibly beneficial to their operation."

Good news. Its only an extension but its good to see customers coming back for more.

As a Kubota tractor owner myself, I'm of course doubly pleased.

The QPP situation probably explains the fall, however irrational it may seem. From looking at level 2 the MMs are lining up to take shares off any sellers. Buying opportunity?

Possibly although I think the RAC news is likely more to do with concerns about Quindell than telematics. Look at the take up stats for Direct Line posted above. Could TRAK end up supporting RAC? Who knows stranger things have happened.

Probably linked to RAC and Quindell telematics news today. TRAK not involved but sentiment unlikely to have been helped by RAC delaying deploying the technology.

Good morning. Some positive lines out of the Direct Line Half Year report.Firstly, "Take-up remains strong for Direct Line new policies with one in five under 25 year olds electing for telematics, with take-up increasing to more than 50% for new business sales to under 21 year olds over the phone.". Even more interestingly...."the Commercial division is piloting telematics propositions with Direct Line for Business and NIG customers." they also state at the top of the report that this is an "extension" of self install. Now, It's only a pilot, but the last one was successful and commercial fleets are Trakm8's bread and butter.

I have taken a position today too. Going to keep on growing from here. Like the Direct Line contract.

Stumbled across their recent twitter message from 9 July;

'Trakm8 achieves double success with over 1000 #telematics units manufactured in 1 day & new unit installs reporting to servers @ record high'

I didn't realise EU legislation was mandating this: 'But EU legislation will make it compulsory for every new car to have an electronic 'SOS' black box system linked to satellite tracking that will alert the authorities to a crash.'http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2689510/A-black-box-car-tell-insurers-youve-crashed-Device-alert-emergency-services-accident.html#ixzz37F42L5OX

"Trakm8 is delighted to report that June 2014 saw two firsts for the company. June represented the largest month in the Trakm8's 12 year history for the number of new unit installations to report directly back to Trakm8 servers, which meets the objective of substantially increasing recurring revenues is being achieved month on month.

Secondly, June saw the first time over 1000 units were manufactured in a single day. Trakm8 Group have invested heavily over the last 12 months in expanding their in-house manufacturing capabilities, and reaching this new target has demonstrated that they are investing in the right areas of the business.

Trakm8 Chairman John Watkins comments on the achievements: "It is terrific that our hard work in building our client marketing activities is paying off in terms of new solution sales. We have invested heavily in additional manufacturing capacity, and it is already proving itself to have been money well spent."
