Questions:

1.) Is TRE a good proxy for EUA prices?
2.) Is there an EPIC for the DEC 09 EUA future available on ADVFN or anywhere for that matter?
3.) Can someone post a chart of EUA price over the last 2/3 years?

Thanks in advance.

Could turn out to be a good bit of business.
Thought it was share buy backs as well.

Got to agree. Can't believe they will bid but at least they will be able to place an informed value on the company.

On a different note, I wonder who picked up all of that stock over the last month in TRE. I suspected that it was share buy-backs. Perhaps it was a potential suitor?

So TRE have been buying shares in ECO - interesting move. Is it purely a bit of short term dealing by TRE or is there more to it?

I would prefer that TRE remains indendent but what are the chances of the Company being taken over?

ECO looks interesting, can only be good for TRE:

Well there goes 100p - be nice if it can hold above 100p by the end of the day.

Worm,
The bidder is a co backed by a dutch investment company and the founder of ECO. From memory, Credit Suisse have a chunk of the co so will probably decide it's fate. Yes, 60p looks a bit cheeky but let's see how things develop.

I see you are over at ECO Greedy - 60p per share would seem a bit on the low side looking back at the chart. Wonder who the bidder is? No position in it myself btw, just watched it over time but never tempted to dip my toe in.

No doubt share buybacks.

But it makes great sense - every purchase at this level increases the NAV of the shares remaining. [Quite possibly (including ongoing profitability) at a similar rate to the rate of increase of the share price.]

A fantastic win - win scenario. And they probably still have the cash to buy loads more.

Chart looks tasty to me and rise supported by volume. Share buy backs again?

Galles - from the interims:

"Under the terms of the share placings, the Company has a fixed life and is due to be wound up at the end of 2012."

This is why they talk about values in 2012 so much.

ELBAN, you mentioned it's a closed end fund which will eventually be distributed, when will this be?

If that 2m is the company then they are embarking on another round in excess of the 15m and will have to pay progressively higher prices.

This remains logical because the NAV per share increases after every cancellation - so paying an increasing price becomes more justified.
In effect, this could continue until they run out of cash or the share price approaches the NAV.

2m at 90.5p - some big trades in the last few days (some of which would have been the company buying for cancellation).

Good bit of business though - 15m shares for 83p - especially for a closed end fund. It means the assets per share (that will eventually be redistributed) are so much higher. Probably the best possible use of their cash - and risk free.

That's a fair old purchase for cancellation - over 15m shares.

Carbon Finance 13 May, 2009
Rumours are circulating that international offsets are to play a greater role in compromise climate legislation under preparation by the House energy and commerce committee.
According to unconfirmed reports, committee chairman Henry Waxman will propose that emitters can use up to 1.5 billion international offsets each year, up from 1 billion in the original draft legislation, if insufficient domestic offsets are available.

Could be good for CER prices.

Massive volume yesterday - stakebuilding? Chart looking good with an assault on 100p and momentum improving.

Nice steady rise over the last couple of weeks.
Carbon price recovering as well - now at € 15.15.

Elban,
Somewhere in between would do me nicely.

Edit: Good start to the day.
