TotalEnergies aims by mid-2024 to drill an appraisal well - potentially on the abyssal plain - targeting a massive western extension of its Venus oil and gas discovery offshore Namibia.

If this well on what has been dubbed the Venus West structure is a success, it has the potential to help boost recoverable reserves at Venus from 3 billion barrels of oil equivalent - a current estimate by consultancy group Wood Mackenzie - to nearer 10 billion barrels, sources have told Upstream.

"Tower observes that this figure corresponds to the portion of the prospect on block 2011A, and notes that approximately 25% of the Welwitschia structure lies in block 1911, which is covered by Tower's license PEL 96. Although this proportion is an estimate made without the details of Global's detailed reinterpretation, it would imply that the total Best Estimate unrisked gross prospective resources of the Welwitschia Deep prospect's entire structure would be in the region of 895 million barrels. Of this, approximately 224 million barrels would lie in block 1911, of which approximately 179 million barrels would be attributable to Tower."





"As previously disclosed, Tower received an unsolicited approach from a Major oil company regarding its license PEL 96 in the second half of 2019. That company has told Tower that it remains interested in working on this project, but has not prioritised it during the first half of 2020, and we expect discussions to remain on the back burner in the second half of the year, or at least until the Covid-19 pandemic situation is clearer. This has not affected our own plans for the license, and we await with great interest the outcome of further work, such as Global's, and also further wells being drilled in Namibia, including Shell's well on license PEL 39 and Total's Venus well, all of which will enhance our own basin modelling and prospect evaluation."

Lol satkaur, good luck with GBP, although not sure if you are aware but as well as Cameroon, South Africa and Namibia , TRP also has a 25% free carry on GBP's offshore Namibian block. Gl ;-)

761 Felix , I lost money on WET yonks ago , hence I dont like African stocks as it is so corrupt.

If you are able to catch the bottom here with a modest amount then one of these days Asher has to hit oil ( doesnt he ? ) these blocks look promising .

0.18p might seem low but it can go a lot lower yet , I will get a few once funding is done. GLA

I haven't bought TRP as a short term trade.

I can wait as long as it takes for Thali to be drilled.

MALCY TODAY:

Jeremy Asher, Tower’s Chairman and CEO, commented:

“We are very happy with the progress in our discussions with BGFI Bank Group, and the support that the local bank has shown towards our project in Cameroon.

“Discussions regarding the rig options with suppliers and other operators are also continuing as expected. As previously announced, long lead items for the well have already been purchased, and the environmental and social impact assessment, site survey and site debris survey are complete. Therefore, we are in a position to move quickly once a rig slot is finalised.

“We remain very confident that we will be able to drill the NJOM-3 well in good time and thank our shareholders for their patience while we seek to conclude these discussions.”

This announcement speaks for itself, this is a crucial step but Group level will be an equally tough hurdle but the company seem confident that patience with regards to the Thali PSC.

This Stock is corrupt hence concentrating on Global Petroleum (GBP) now.

If GBP get Exxon on board then it will go through the roof.
