29/9/2016 11:25 | can we all agree its a confusing slide from a bewildering company ;-) S | sweenoid
29/9/2016 09:44 | "Dave - the way I read that slide is that all those mentioned are either a partner or customer." If that's the case, is the BBC a partner or a customer ? | twatcher
29/9/2016 09:39 | It could be that Apple are mentioned because the Minuet module can handle Apple Airplay - TMZ would have had to work with them to get that to work properly. Or they could be involved to enable other Apple services - streaming Apple Music, or Siri perhaps? Not likely maybe, but if Amazon and Google get their services into all sorts of audio manufacturers kit courtesy of Minuet, then Apple might feel it has to respond. | rob_evans
29/9/2016 08:10 | Many thanks for that feedback Chillpill. Dave - the way I read that slide is that all those mentioned are either a partner or customer. They are then subdivided into the four categories shown; i.e. there are three categories of partner. | rob_evans
29/9/2016 05:08 | From someone who could be bothered to attend post results meeting. | chillpill
28/9/2016 23:16 | chilli - 'a bit of feedback' - from whom, when? | supernumerary
28/9/2016 22:19 | To Rob Isn't that slide misleading?, if not at best it's confusing Google is indeed a partner. But Amazon and Apple are listed as 'players' Its therefore as clear as mud! Dave | sweenoid
28/9/2016 21:44 | To be fair they had to lose of the word Silicon didn't they. | snaffleclamp
28/9/2016 18:53 | Nod - just had to laugh - too right. Old but good: I don't think Toumaz is particularly memorable I must say, and one wouldn't want to be associated with whatever Toumazou might do in the future so the link does need to be broken. My only real question was why add 'Smart'? Given they presumably already have a lot of marketing collateral that refers to Frontier Technologies, why add the noise word? Did they fear everyone thought they were stupid? Seems counterproductive to me - if somebody says "I'm really really clever" I just think "thick as two short planks". The current US presidential election provides a classic example... | supernumerary
28/9/2016 18:50 | A bit of feedback: Cash expected to remain comfortably above 3m. Expect more order wins in coming months Impression is bad news out the way The Peel Hunt figures are there to be beaten. | chillpill
28/9/2016 18:06 | The company name doesn't matter and has no bearing on the value or performance of the company. Few will care about the name's origins. It's not a person's name like Lloyds - it's a made up device name that is very distinct and short. The type of short, easy to remember brand name that every company is moving to. Instead, the proposed new name is a lengthy set of English words that nobody will remember.Glaxo is known globally. Few know that Glaxo began in Bunnythorpe - a small village in New Zealand - producing baby milk. "Glaxo builds bonny babies". Its obscure name and origin didn't prevent it from becoming a global giant. It had a simple, easy to remember, identifiable name, which is still at the front after many mergers. | nod
28/9/2016 16:53 | I see slide 12 has Google, Amazon, and Apple listed as partners - excellent! | rob_evans

28/9/2016 08:27 | No results presentation on website yet. HINT HINT TMZ pr team! | chillpill
28/9/2016 08:05 | If this exercise had been accompanied by a reduction in their salaries I might be supportive...they are clearly good at spending other people's money not a particularly rare talent! | slicethepie
28/9/2016 06:57 | Nod- as someone who called for the change in name, I fully support it. of course it will cost but unfortunately it's essential, we simply can't carry on with Chris TOUMAZou's name on our 'shingle' As for the Caymans island listing....don't get m started! S | sweenoid
28/9/2016 05:13 | The cost to shareholders of a name change and share price consolidation must be a lot greater than the cost of moving its registered office from Grand Cayman to the United Kingdom.A name change has an impact on all customers and their accounts. It involves rebranding of stationery, logos, web site, stock market listing, directories, etc. I went through this a few years ago and the logo change alone cost tens of thousands, with all the material and printing that needs to be changed. Many things people don't think about. The execs don't come across to me as good planners who can do this project in their spare time. The consolidation will inevitably lead to a falling share price as FSTG will be viewed as expensive given the size of revenue and profits. This process will also cost money without adding any value. | nod
27/9/2016 22:29 | sweenoid - From the RNS about the design win with JBL FS stated "The JBL Playlist will be available from retailers in Q4 2016." In the half year results "In September 2016, the Group announced its first design win for Minuet with Harman, the world's largest manufacturer of speakers, for its new Google Cast-enabled wireless speaker, the JBL Playlist. First revenues for this product are expected in Q4 2016." The last deadline they missed was July, I think (someone correct me). This would have given more manufacturers a chance to ship products, but can't. At the very least we will have the JBL Playlist shipping in some quantity. | iamnoone
27/9/2016 21:05 | Most retailers order their stock for Xmas sales in July and at the latest August - that's a fact, especially with electronic products. Mass production of chips NOW means products won't be hitting the shelves till after Xmas S | sweenoid
27/9/2016 19:05 | Sounds like they have been 6-8 weeks later than anticipated in going into mass production of Minuet. At least that is now underway since that is where the real profits growth is going to come from. | chillpill
27/9/2016 14:25 | I've had a read of the half-year statement. Like others, I would have liked to have heard a bit more excitement about the prospects going forward but, as sweenoid said, it could be expectation management by AS. It is better to set conservative projections publicly, while privately expecting to beat those figures comfortably (something IMG could have learned!). The sub-heading of the statement calls it a transition, which is a fair point. I think the future will become clearer from 2017 onward, when we are clear of Sensium's losses and the Google Cast products are rolled out en-masse. Until we have an idea of how those speakers sell, such as the Harman product, then I guess the BoD have to keep their powder dry with these official statements. However, it was only last month that the CEO was talking to the media about doubling revenues in the next 2-3 years, but saying that to the specialist press and saying it in the RNS are two different things. I think the name change was obvious and sensible, the consolidation also makes sense. I was disappointed to hear that the criteria for the DAB switch-over is not expected to be achieved until H2 2018, though. I expected it a year earlier, given that listening figures on digital are already circa 45% and I thought the threshold for switch-over was 50%, although I could be wrong or missing something. Anyway, apart from the admin stuff with the shares and the name change, I don't expect to hear much until the New Year when, hopefully, we will learn that the Minuet based products were a great success over Xmas and the H2 figures were stronger than expected. Let's hope that the full-year figures next April make today's forecasts look cautious. | life of crime |
