05/5/2017 14:29 | Motorway speed limits could be cut from 70mph to 60mph and pollution taxes could be imposed on diesel cars under Government plans to tackle air pollution. Officials have raised concerns that vehicles emit more harmful emissions when cars are travelling at higher speeds. They have suggested that stretches of motorway with high levels of emissions could benefits from a cut in speed limits of 10mph. The measures are highlighted in the Government's air pollution strategy which could see all cars that do not comply with the latest Euro 6 emissions standard face charges. ------- ( 60mph limit + a V Charge unit must be a consideration) . The knock-on effect of reducing these pollutants can also mean improved fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions. Now where have i heard this before!----- (in the grape vine) | oliversanvil

04/5/2017 17:12 | Thanks Angus. I remained a believer for far too long and now am nursing an indecent six figure loss - written off as a total loss. Hey ho, still cheaper than either of my Divorce settlements. No one it seems has accepted responsibility for the failings at Torotrak and resigned. Oh, and the previous recipients of inflated bonuses have no sense of shame either come to that. All in all EJ, I would have been better off by far listening to your sage advice many years ago! Good luck all. | bodgit

They were going to revolutionise the automotive world. Oh well! | papillon

04/5/2017 08:28 | Torotrak PLC Companies Act Section 656 04/05/2017 7:00am UK Regulatory (RNS & others) Torotrak (LSE:TRK) Intraday Stock Chart RNS Number : 1090E Torotrak PLC 04 May 2017 4 May 2017 Torotrak plc ("Torotrak", the "Group" or the "Company") Section 656 of the Companies Act 2006 On 30 January 2017, the Board announced a strategic refocus of the Group, which included taking steps to consolidate the Group's engineering resources and reduce the ongoing cash operating costs. Following a period of employee consultation, the Board has decided to close the Leyland site and make all staff working at that site redundant. The Board continues to focus on realising value from Torotrak's technology portfolio and other assets. The Company's Auditors are in the process of completing their audit of the Financial Statements for the Company and the Group for the year ended 31 March 2017. It is anticipated that the Company's Preliminary Results will be published no later than mid-July 2017 with the Annual Report sent to Shareholders by the end of July 2017. The Group expects to close the financial year with GBP5.1 million of cash, in line with expectations. Whilst the audited net assets of the Company as at 31 March 2017 are not yet available, the Board believes that on completion of the audit, the net assets of the Company will fall below half of the value of the called-up share capital. Under Section 656 of the Companies Act 2006 (Section 656), when a board becomes aware (or should have been aware) that the net assets of a public company are half or less than the value of its called-up share capital, the directors are required, within 28 days, to call a general meeting of the company for the purpose of considering whether any, and if so what, steps should be taken to deal with the situation. Consequently, the Board has today issued a notice to hold a General Meeting of the Company at 10.00am on 31 May 2017 at 1 Aston Way, Leyland, Lancashire PR26 7UX in connection with Section 656. The Board does not consider that any steps are required to be taken beyond those already in hand and accordingly, no resolutions will be put to Shareholders at the General Meeting. 28/4/2017 12:48 | www.theguardian.com/ The government has been ordered to publish tough new plans to tackle air pollution after the high court rejected attempts by ministers to keep the policy under wraps until after the general election. In the latest defeat for ministers over their continued failure to tackle the UK’s air pollution crisis, which is believed to be responsible for 40,000 premature deaths a year,, Mr Justice Garnham said the secretary of state, Andrea Leadsom, was in breach of a court order to take action in the shortest possible time and that any further delays would constitute a further breach. Nearly 40 million people live in UK areas with illegal air pollution Read more He said it was essential to publish draft plans to cut air pollution immediately to safeguard public health. The judge rejected a government application to appeal, saying that ministers would have to go to the appeal court if they wanted to seek permission to challenge his ruling. The judgment came after ministers applied to court to keep their plans secret until after the general election, saying it was necessary to “comply with pre-election propriety rules”. The new measures are likely to include the imposition of multiple clean-air zones across the country, where drivers will face fines if their vehicles do not pass roadside emissions tests. | oliversanvil |
