Horizonte minerals once worth close to 1 billion Down from 160p to 0.39 near bankruptcy They just couldn't get the money they needed, why would big investors lend when they can have it for nothing TGR is heading in the same direction Imho

Problem has never been lack of orders Problem is company is unable to produce and utilise already 30k installed capacity fully (currently producing around 50%of installed capacity)Investors were led to believe in late 2022 when company did 5 million raise that company would be producing 2400t per month or 80% of installed capacity but as we all know that turned out to be another jam tomorrow guidance number. Ever since listing company hasn't delivered on guidance. Problem now is the market just doesn't trust this management anymore.

Not sure about that topaz...more a case of the BOD not managing investors' expectations and sending out mixed messages. Lets just see what happens with the follow on financing.

Latest news looks like a sensible move.This company is being run on a shoestring- less than 15m pounds invested iirc.They have no cash left and the co is on a knife edge.Of course the latest graphite restrictions from China should help with sales, prices and additionally with convincing investors to put a few more million in to make it to profitability.Of course you could (should) argue that the co should have raised enough cash to do that when the share price was much higher.Awaiting further developments with interest.CM

SP Angel Graphite Market Report - Return to a Natural Flake Future

Natural graphite prices and demand should continue to grow due to:

Continued penetration of flake graphite-based anode products in EVs;

Western automakers favouring natural graphite products over more carbon-intensive synthetic products;

China’s diminishing domestic mine supply, due to grade depletion and environmental concerns.

China’s decision to ban natural graphite product exports from the 1st of December 2023 is expected to trigger a renewed urgency for Automakers and OEMs to source alternative supply of natural, mined flake graphite.

China dominates graphite supply, producing 79% of total world graphite production, split between 24% synthetic and 76% natural flake. It also dominates the downstream graphite refining sector, processing 90% of graphite used for anode materials. C.500kt of battery-related graphite products are expected to be impacted by the December ban.

EVs require between 50-100kg of graphite materials. Graphite use in batteries has increased by 250% since 2018. Downstream graphite demand trends remain positive, with EV sales growing 40% yoy in 3Q23, alongside anode production which accelerated at the same pace.

We hold the view that China has been flooding the market with unsustainably cheap synthetic graphite to rebuild anode material supplies before the winter according to market sources. Flake prices have fallen 25.5% ytd to between $540-$635/t. We expect China’s export ban to reverse this trend, triggering an increase in natural flake graphite prices outside China

In this report we provide a peer analysis of several more developed graphite projects with Western backing available to investors seeking public company exposure. We also provide a summary of recent market dynamics, alongside longer-term supply/demand fundamentals.

Certainly a good development for the company. They clearly need more working capital to manage the transition to steady state operation and this will help improve general sentiment around the company. The fundamentals have been the same throughout - graphite is something the world will need a lot of and TGR on paper are positioned to capitalise on that. I always felt the negativity and drop in valuation was overblown but as others have said, its still a long way back from previous highs. Ultimately investors will need to see evidence of positive free cash flow before it re-rates to a fairer valuation but hopefully there will be partial recovery and confirmation of debt finance before then. On the other hand, I wouldnt be surprised if we also get profit taking and a drift back to last week's level.
