Always be wary jumping into a sector when its been red hot.
Some of us oldtimers remember the first time around with videogame companies - EID,RGE,WHOG,SEG,AGT that all crashed and burned in the early 2000s. This rapid downturn in the gaming sector was inevitable after the insane euphoria during the pandemic. Utter junk like this and DEVO being floated (and founders cashing in at the IPO) should have been ample warning to investors who have seen it time and again across multiple sectors.

This will breach new lows. There’s zero point owning it. It was always likely heading lower. The business model is super challenging, as is the sector. And that, combined with safe six percent yield available on your cash, makes this a very hard sell in the current market.

All this stuff will eventually trade like options and that’s when you want to buy a basket of them. Much like the resource or commodity stocks that were heading to the moon post the GFC and subsequently tanked in 2015 and 2016.

We’re in early to mid-innings across the board for loads of trashy businesses like this one.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news and I genuinely hope I’m wrong. I’m not short but one glance of this and many others and you can just tell where the puck is going.

It’s just logic / math.

Unless you’ve got a resilient revenue profile or some sort of hard asset backing to protect the probable downside, there is no floor for where this stuff could trade.

It will ebb and flow as people make some speculative punts but for long term investors who care about principal, this and multiple others just doesn’t cut it.

Anyway, that’s my two cents’ worth.

Nice bounce today on decent volume.
I see this investor has updated his research - an excellent read:

"
Tinybuild IPO price March 2021 £1.69. Started trading at £2.13p. "

Current price 0.0975

Gotta love AIM, the laughing stock of the World's markets

Hoping the CEO takes it private at 20-30p or a competitor buys it on the cheap as doubt any institutions will touch this now.

Anyone else still holding ???

The CEO isn't doing himself any favours though ...

Mostly buys this afernoon - still a few available at 9.75p currently. Hopefully bottom is in now. GLA.

Catabrit - looking back it seems this was over-hyped at IPO with lots of positive media coverage. In the current climate we know how markets react to poor results coupled with uncertain outlooks. Especially in relation to AIM listed stocks.

I have a sensible portfolio paying out very nice dividends, but occassionally like a gamble and this really seems to be pricing in the worst possible scenarios now.
With an average of 10.66p I'd probably off-load a few at 20-30p though. Sadly I don't really consider anything on AIM suitable for long-term investing, it seems to only ever offer opportunities on crash stocks and post-fundraise situations. IMHO, DYOR, GLA.

Some chunky 125K buys going through.

@hatfullofsky - how likely is your suggestion of the CEO taking it private ?

Very very quiet on here ... ! Seems to be recovering slowly.

I suppose longer term investors have either written it off or no longer look in.

Tinybuild would probably do far better if (also) listed on US market ...

I'm down 85% on this share. There's little point in selling now. I should have learnt my lesson not to invest in AIM stocks. They often end up a disaster zone.

I should have cut my losses when I watched the presentation earlier this year involving the then CFO and the present CEO and joint founder. I was not impressed then. It was all too laid back and it was obvious this company is a ''one man band'' who may know a thing or two about games but has virtually zero business acumen.

Well done to those who have day traded this stock over the last few weeks. However, for the many who bought around the 1.50 to 2.00 mark, you have my sympathies. So much for for the recommendations of Questor or Investors Chronicle. They should have at least understood this share better than me. It's my own fault entrusting in other people's views. I should have understood the workings of this company better and the way they enhanced the profit element.

This is the last time I will ever invest in an AIM stock.

It is time for the Directors to issue some form of statement to reassure investors as this company seems to have gone from success to disaster in a very short time since coming to the market. Have investors been mislead or have events created the current situation? Is recovery possible?

Well done to the day traders who jumped in and out.Unfortunately I'm not one of them and am a sucker in this particular share. As I've written before - this biz has a decent and unique proposition, but the leadership and commercial acumen seems to be lacking.A humble CEO would step down to become more of a managing COO, get a credible CFO and work on immediately slashing costs and headcount. If they do something like this, then they can slowly rebuild and who knows. If they don't, then they'll run out of cash at some point in the next 1.5 to 3years and investors will get nothing. I'm already 80% down on the 10k I'd put in here, so maybe not worth cutting losses. But will look to see how they react to the situation they now find themselves in before deciding whether to take the beer money out or not. It's a sad and frustrating rollercoaster this one. Best of luck to all

In the Investors Chronicle today:

TinyBuild needs to start generating real cash.

The games developer is difficult to understand because of all the adjustments to its profit.

March 29, 2023
By Arthur Sants

*Management says net cash will increase next year
*Q4 2022 “most successful quarter ever”

There is no obvious reason for TinyBuild’s (TBLD) dramatic share price decline in the past year. One broker said its failure to publish organic growth figures was limiting confidence, while another blamed the poor reviews for recent game Hello Neighbour 2. There is also the company’s tendency to capitalise its game development costs so that they don't hit the profit line.

The area that causes most concern is how quickly the company capitalises development costs. Capitalised software development rose from $15.1mn to $35.8mn due to investment in new games. Normally, these would be amortised over several years, with an exception made for products that become commercially viable very quickly. The short-term impact is to improve the profit line by not expensing those costs through the income statement, but this contributed to the net cash position falling from $48.8mn to $26mn.

TinyBuild may yet see a return on this development expenditure. After all, it said that back-catalogue sales represented 80 per cent of revenue last year, which suggests the assets have a long shelf life. Management promises that the net cash position will rise above $26.5mn by the end of December 2023.

Investors will be waiting for the day it brings in more cash than it spends. The flipside is that TinyBuild trades at a big discount to its peers – broker Numis has it on a forward price/earnings ratio of just six times. TinyBuild generated a 1.9 times return on its game releases last year and Numis thinks this can rise to over two times in 2023. At this valuation, we are happy to believe the story. BUY.
