I am growing increasingly dissatisfied with HL.

No I'm with DeGiro. No change in share numbers.
You should get both. Capital return is different to a dividend - it's drawn from equity. Also it's not taxable, it's a return of capital paid in when buying shares. Dividend is drawn from earnings.

So HL should be paying you both. They will have received the money for both too!

Warno thanks.

I have spoken to HL and they tell me they only received the div and not the cap red.

Morning all - no you receive the capital reduction AND the unfranked divided. 0.0083p for the unfranked divided and 0.0249 for the capital reduction. On aggregate 0.0332 per share. Received in my account this morning. Pretty good and hopefully more to come.

Suspect activity galore here. They clearly went looking for shares with the plunge yesterday.

Then you have an RNS this morning and add in a very bullish FT article popping up now. It's from about one hour ago so clearly not spreading around the market yet. Let's see if it does stir some serious interest.

Over to you FT followers and market participants!

Agree with your view Shaker, I just don't think there is actually a "£101m disparity". Happy to hold at this price. Cheers.

Surely if afterpay want to buy thinksmart stake before it increases further, they will have to pay the 'market' rate-, which equals obviously the value then of thinksmart stake to its shareholders. . If afterpays own value is the yardstick and they are thought to be overvalued, then they are hoist with their own petard.

Surely the value of an option related to a stake should be a fraction of the value of the stake itself, no matter what the relevant discount factors etc.? i.e. Afterpay's accounts should show a much lower figure for the option than Thinksmart's should show for the asset? Seems to be a case of apples and pears to me. Willing to be educated if I am wrong.

Longish article in the FT discussing the differences between Thinksmart's valuation of Clearpay and what Afterpay think it's worth. Lets just say a massive massive disparity of around £101m Although they do not manage to square the circle they did end up with...

"So if Afterpay is valued at A$28bn, under a tenth of that feels about right for Clearpay’s market value.

But why does it matter? Well, ThinkSmart is valued today at just £62m. Its 10 per cent stake in Clearpay alone is, according to who you ask at least, worth more than that."

That infers GBP155m valuation.

Totally agree.
I placed an order for 50k that was only partially filled despite the large supposed price drop. I was told very little stock available
Apt firmed +2.9% today to 98.45 Aud and exchange rate flatters the TSL valuation.
Capital payment and dividend amount to 3.4p now the £ weakened a tad. Very nice thanks.
The RNS confirmed the 3/12 Nov sales data ie UK 10% of worldwide sales even after being turbocharged by USA - up from 7% in 3 mths to Sept.

That looks like the first proper tree shake I've seen in a while. It's easy to confuse them with nearly every sell down. Market makers know where the stops are, and even if you don't, you know psychology dictates (shown recent examples of CTO and MCL) market activity around key marks like 50p.

Drop it under there, widen the spread to keep the offer at 49, sweep up alot of sells and then raise the offer by closing off any buying in size as per alot of price levels on the intraday move higher and 54.5p currently where only 1000 shares can be bought.

Price almost now flat with the price only off 2% having been off 14%.

I thought news would be quiet for a while and the only event in Dec would be tucking away a decent chunk of cash. Not so, APT has announced a positive trading update for Nov. Whilst the headline is the stellar USA performance, for us, the UK results were very significant indeed: At the financial year end in June, UK customers were 10.1% of total and accounted for 5% of sales. In Nov, UK sales were 9.5% of the total, an increase of 315% cf 2019 and no of was merchants up 800% with basket sizes also up 25% AND this result is against the backdrop of USA achieving 1bn sales which were greater than Anz. WOW

I was thinking about adding, however quite happy to sit and wait. With economies likely to be impacted for the next 2-3 years and spending power diminished, I can only see Afterpay strengthening and getting into more markets. Got in at 36p back in September so thrilled with the rise already. Couldn't believe it when I saw it at 70p.

Bought this patch of weakness. Wasn't initially sure how much of the online/tech/stay at home trade was going to unwind post vaccine news. Afterpay has remained resilient with the price continuing to loiter near highs so potentially an opportunity here.

Doesn't look like this will be producing the fireworks of other prices around the market atm, one to keep hold imo. Well, if anything pretty much everything out there is a hold and buy on weakness atm. The re-ratings higher continue with some further lovely moves today.

It's getting alot harder to find value now though!
