M&S was known in the past for being 'difficult' with suppliers.

Well I hope this farmer has deep pockets and the only winners will initially be the lawyers.

I am sure Tesco, Sainsbury, ASDA and Morrisons have all done the same sometime in the past.

Lidl has ruined my firm says boss in £2.7m fight: They stabbed me in the back, rages fruit and veg chief in David vs Goliath court case

A family-owned fruit and vegetable supplier is suing Lidl in a £2.7million claim that the German grocery giant destroyed his business.

He claims he has been 'stabbed in the back' by Lidl, which cancelled or slashed orders with insufficient notice and poached his own suppliers from under his nose.

Industry experts say the case is important because it challenges the effectiveness of the Groceries Supply Code of Practice, which was set up amid concerns that supermarkets were bullying their suppliers.

I will go out on a limb and opine that a 'declarable interest' RNS in TSCO will appear in the next 14 days. Dyor

Helen/Konrad agree with something likely cooking on the stove just not picking up any smells yet... maybe some leftovers from the Morison debacle who could not justify to their investors that their UK trolley was empty ;-)

Helen you spotted the volume as well.

Plus relative strength against the market.

I've said it before. Don't right off a bid. There is however no RNS on anyone with a new declarable interest.

NO Tesco brown sauce just Daddies and HP (What a surprise - NOT).
Also the shelf filled with numerous varieties of branded variants (fruity, smoky,...).
Are they unable to produce it or is this just deliberate.

Tesco cream crackers are back though (they were replaced by some unheard of cheapo version recently).

I'm sceptical that the science has been settled viz Climate Change.

Yes climate is changing. Indisputable.

Is mankind responsible. Doubtful.
Do we contribute, likely.

Biggest impact on climate is that big ball of fire in the sky fyi. Always has been, always will be until it's time is done.

Wow I’ve been filtered by an idiot, who thinks I’m a lefty. What a shocker. Presumably he’s using the same selective reasoning as with the climate change.

So if you go with the science, which is our best option, you’re a lefty. Also I guess shopping at Aldi confirms that.

Cost of identical Tesco 'big shop' has soared since 2020

The same big shop has risen by a staggering 35% - with some items up by well over 100%

Another lefty bites the dust..

Restricted choice is what the Ukraine have got and so have many poor countries.

Not what we have got here if we don’t shop at Sainsburys etc.

You really are living in the disgusting world of the “entitled̶1; people,

In Tesco Tropicana often has a ClubCard Price.

I am sure Tesco have items cheaper than Morrisons.

You must look at these things in the round or as a basket.

Morrisons, in my view, have become a lot less competitive of late.

I think this might be down to the high costs of debt servicing their leveraged buyout.

United Nations Climate change refers to long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns, mainly caused by human activities, especially the burning of fossil fuels.

Dr. John Christy of the University of Alabama-Huntsville testified before the Natural Resources Committee on May 13, 2015, that carbon dioxide emissions have no significant impact on climate change -- a position shared by approximately 3 percent of professional climate scientists.

The highlights of his testimony are included here

There are a lot of people who have no longer got much disposable income. They might have had a thriving restaurant bistro or whatever before the pandemic. They might be forced to have cheaper products. Genuine need to save money . But yes by implication you are right we know people who could afford more that were tempted to go to
Aldi or Lidl. They thought that they would try something different or thought it was clever to save money.
Again I think it is a mistake to compromise if you can afford more because when you tire of the same products then you go back to Tesco or Waitrose you might find they no longer stock your favourite luxury food because few others want it and it’s not worth their while to continue to stock it. My point is that life has many aspects to it and we have been lucky with our choices so far but they might disappear if we don’t support them .

Nice attempt at winding me up there, but it won't work as I know that you know that its actually not the poor who have given Aldi their increasing market share over the last xx years.

You do know that don't you ? Often I'm not certain what you really know at all.

I'm afraid I've gone into very disillusioned head-shaking mode watching the news.

First you see a helicopter has killed its occupants and some children in a nursery in Ukraine.

Then you see lots of people here wanting a 10% pay rise but conflating that with all the other reasons that their workplace needs investment, which is a different issue and could be demonstrated for separately, in spare time.

I get the feeling a lot of strikers feel they are striking against the government, (the 12 years of austerity and all that egged on by Labour, who would have exactly the same funding problem) but they're not are they. The government feels no effect from the strikes, but a lot of other people do. If you run your own business, you can't strike, you just put up your prices and potentially go out of business, just like two cafes already this year that we cycle to for cake and coffee.

I've said it before and I'll say it again by restricting choice, we become homogenised and dull food wise.
Aldi and Lidl do provide a good enough service, for those that are poor these days and have to sacrifice choice.
