26/2/2021 13:03 | Of course thats more the 'statistical nature of the beast', moreso than about tesco but shorters got alerted yesterday anyway | sentiment riles
26/2/2021 12:59 | only an opinion but probably much better to let it fall into april, and if so, buy that value day before results. Got the div, now cap focus | sentiment riles
26/2/2021 12:58 | I think now that div is done, they will chase share price hard down like an ex div dates, but more prolonged | sentiment riles
26/2/2021 12:56 | So the special dividend from Tesco came in today. I've used it to top up my holding back to the original number. Am I up or down on the whole deal? Well..... 1st Jan - Starting position: Shares 5000 Cash £0.00 28th Jan - Buy some shares to get multiple of 19, so 187 shares bought for £461.87: Shares 5187 Cash -£461.87 15th Feb - Share 15 for 19 consolidation: Shares 4095 Cash -£461.87 26th Feb - Special Dividend arrives £2641.73: Shares 4095 Cash 2179.86 26th Feb - Buy 905 shares for £2073.58, final state: Shares 5000 Cash £106.28 So, two months on I own a slightly larger % of a smaller, more UK focused, better financed Tesco and I've received a bonus 2.1p dividend per share, so on balance I think it's positive. What do you guys think? Cheers, PJ | pj fozzie

26/2/2021 10:44 | SR, sounds good, glad it works for you. i'm almost 50 and feel i will stick to what i'm comfortable with. lockdown has meant i spend more time on this board and generally looking at the cash markets. i'm looking forward to the spring and summer when i can do something more edifying. hopefully next year back to travelling again! good luck to you and everyone! | unastubbs
26/2/2021 10:10 | Its actually harder work than most methods - and far from easy. But pays better if willing to do that As far as sit at a screen goes - no I plan the whole position before the execution. Prices that need checking, where to adjust, target point etc SO after i hit the buy button, thats it - never look again until i get an alert whenever. Any prices in between management prices, simply deemed a space vacuum. Not worth checking SO i probably do less time than most after initial research in truth. I run it book style. Say ftse 350, a continuous book of 5 Never research again until finished with a stock. Then look for its replacement Market hours per day with no research to do? 5 mins | sentiment riles
26/2/2021 10:06 | it's all about age and the experiences you've had. i invested short term in the late nineties and made easy money on telecom stocks. it all evaporated when i carried that mindset (that it was a cinch, that money was always there to be made) in to the bear market of the post dotcom world. that scarred me pretty badly. now i'm older and want to find companies that will be around twenty years hence. i also envisage a time quite soon when i will be out and about not sitting near a screen looking at the cash markets. i certainly don't want to be checking my phone every hour worried about what a share is doing. so i'll have a locked drawer in my mind filled with good companies paying me a monthly income while i live my life doing the things i really like doing. that's my perspective. if others are different it's fine. | unastubbs
26/2/2021 09:57 | Do none of you feel income investing is a waste of time? When you can just knock 10% out in capital returns in a week or less, without having to be holding into risk windows | sentiment riles

25/2/2021 18:55 | No reason why the Divi per share ie yield should change significantly, that was the whole point of the consolidation to adjust for the payout by the special divi resulting from the sale of the Thai business. | bountyhunter |
