07/4/2020 08:15 | Its very strange this, we definitely appear to be held in a 2.15 to 2,35 trading range, irrespective of the market or our own performance. I can only assume it's due to the continued uncertainty over the dividend payments including the proposed deal and payment of a special dividend. We should find out shortly one way or another as meeting today. | ladeside
06/4/2020 17:25 | Nath, the world has changed, however do you think the Tesco stores in Thailand and Malaysia are all shut? I bet they are as busy as ever. The real problem sounds like Thai regulatory approval and the banking The CP Group (the purchaser) have put provisionally in place for the purchase I venture to speculate. Now how do you think the changed world will impact this deal? | konradpuss

So buying today at 225p is roughly 1.74 Return of proceeds to shareholders It is currently expected that the return of proceeds to shareholders of c.GBP5.0 billion will be implemented by way of a special dividend. In order to maintain the comparability of the Group's share price and per-share metrics before and after the return of proceeds, the Company also intends to undertake a share consolidation in conjunction with the return of proceeds. It is expected that full details of the return of proceeds and share consolidation will be made available to shareholders shortly after Completion, at which time a separate general meeting will be convened to seek shareholder approval for the return of proceeds and associated share consolidation. | imjustdandy

06/4/2020 13:32 | Tesco board’s £550 million dividend decision on a knife-edge Pressure was on Monday mounting on Tesco to ditch a £550 million dividend due to be paid out this week as the coronavirus outbreak threatens to test its balance sheet. Covid-19 has so far proved a huge boon to the nation’s grocers as panicked shoppers have stockpiled on food and household items. Industry data last week showed sales are up around 20% across the sector but long-term an almost certain recession threatens to hit revenues. The board of the UK’s biggest retailer is expected to decide tomorrow on whether to grant the payout, estimated at 5.6p a share or £548 million according to Goldman Sachs. It will be unveiled alongside annual results likely to show pre-tax profits of £1.9 billion on sales of £64.4 billion. | philanderer
06/4/2020 10:23 | Popped into my local Tesco for the first time in two weeks. Shelves fully stocked except very, very low on the cereal front. 3 times the normal amount of Oranges stocked??? Better to buy Lemons which are not selling any more then usual as Lemons boost the immune system can get the vitamin 'C' from vitamin tables much better and cheaper that way. The notices attached to the guard rails around the car park, where people were queuing around for some reason had been attached to the guard rails facing the hedge rather then outwards so customers could read them. | loganair |
