29/4/2018 14:01 | Is it worth having a punt on Sainsbury's first thing on Monday? Can see this as extremely volatile till such deal is confirmed and agreed. | dbensimon
29/4/2018 13:31 | You mean falling victim to our German Aldi/Lidl the cousins you wished you never had. If the merger goes through the combined group will be called Sainsbury's and run by the current Sainsbury's managment. It is ASDA that is getting slaughtered as they are the one with the value price conscious customers competing directly with the German discounters. | loganair
29/4/2018 13:26 | It's won't be 31.4% though, as undoubtedly duplication will lead to store closures. The GMB are already deeply concerned with the likely job losses. Oh well, yet more British companies falling victim to our American cousins, so much for Brexit and "taking Britain back"........... | ladeside
29/4/2018 10:04 | If the merger were to go through could it take the heat of Tesco seen as the bad boy of food retail because of its dominant position? | buoycat
29/4/2018 09:54 | SBRY + Asda = 31.4% mkt share Vs Tsco 27.6% | philanderer
29/4/2018 09:19 | Sold one batch on Friday. 33 percent increase on my purchase price of 1.65. However still hold some with purchase price of 3.20....... my guess is that the whole sector will benefit from tomorrow's announcement. | dbensimon
29/4/2018 09:18 | Bring it on, I am adding here if that plays out | ny boy
29/4/2018 09:09 | I can't see anything positive for Tesco in a sainsburys asda merger - I would also expect a drop in share price tomorrow | supercity
29/4/2018 08:44 | Looking for 10% off TESCO share price tomorrow | bigboots
29/4/2018 08:33 | Up, would be my guess. A downer for anyone who sold Tesco expecting the share price to fall back after its recient strong performance !. Regards. | tenapen
29/4/2018 05:28 | Any predictions about what the asda/Sainsbury merger will do to tescos share price monday | shanieboy01
28/4/2018 13:58 | Yes Vaneric1 just stated as per ticker on Sky news - and would have thought most investors here would get the gist from that - as for competition authorities hurdle I agree with you there but either way it just shows how these "traditional" types of retailers are struggling to re-engineer their companies in the face of the discounters and online | sponges
28/4/2018 13:37 | That could be worded better sponges, Sainsbury are in talks with Walmart US about a possible merger of Sainsbury with Asda in the UK. They could have more trouble getting that past the competition authority than Tesco did with Booker as they are both retail groups. Tesco and Booker were different, one a retailer one wholesaler. | vaneric1
28/4/2018 12:47 | Sky news saying that Asda walmart and Sainsbury's are in advanced talks to merge ! | sponges
28/4/2018 12:06 | Well not yet maybe.:-) | vaneric1
28/4/2018 11:10 | "...Fortunately, those who are signed-up to the annual subscription plan in the UK shouldn’t be affected by the price rise." | philanderer
28/4/2018 09:32 | Did you see the report that said Amazon are increasing the price of their 'Prime' membership? | vaneric1
27/4/2018 18:15 | 'Online grocery sales growing at 'pedestrian rate' as customers head in-store' | philanderer
27/4/2018 15:57 | Anyway, the old Director sales haven't helped the share price too much. | ladeside
27/4/2018 15:55 | loganair - stop blaming Tesco/grocers/retail Just out of interest doesn't your council provide you with bins to put your household rubbish in? Mine does and hence no need for small Tesco bags. | toon1966
27/4/2018 15:51 | Your arguments are in the same vein as my original beef, it's not the supermarkets to blame for the plastics litter, plastics, most of them are a valuable resource, it's the bloody people who dump them any old place instead of putting them for recycling that's the cause of the worldwide litter. | vaneric1
27/4/2018 15:43 | toon - Tesco's hands out fewer plastic bags which I use to reuse as rubbish bags. Now I have to buy plastic rubbish bags from Tesco and therefore I am using the same amount of plastic as before. The only difference is I am bearing the cost instead of Tesco and therefore a good thing - No. | loganair
27/4/2018 15:38 | I don't deny that the plastic waste is indeed a problem (and one that hasn't exactly happened overnight), however I don't believe for one moment that those in power care a jot about the environment or the planet. Why would they ? They're all self obsessed narcisists who care only about their own wealth and power and that's been proven time and time and time again. Call me a cynic, but I've seen these "tick box exercises" a million times and know that it's all for public consumption depending on which way the wind is currently blowing. World peace and all that............... | ladeside |
